SRD Center is recruiting qualified Enumerators / Interviewers to support a large-scale field research assignment in Baghdad and Basra. The assignment will involve face-to-face quantitative interviews with potential migrants, internally displaced persons and other relevant respondent groups. Approximately 1,000 – 1,200 interviews will be conducted using a Computer-Assisted Personal Interviewing (CAPI) system.

Enumerators will receive training on the questionnaire, sampling procedures, interviewing techniques, research ethics, informed consent, data protection, and use of the electronic data collection platform before beginning fieldwork. Tasks: Enumerators / Interviewers will be responsible for: Participate fully in mandatory enumerator training. Participate in questionnaire pre-testing and pilot interviews. Become familiar with the questionnaire, respondent selection procedures, and survey methodology.

Localisation

Conduct face-to-face interviews with selected respondents in assigned locations. Administer questionnaires electronically using smartphones, tablets, or other CAPI devices. Follow the sampling and respondent-selection procedures provided by the research team. Explain the purpose of the research clearly and professionally to potential respondents. Obtain informed consent before conducting interviews. Ensure respondent privacy, confidentiality, and respectful treatment. Accurately record respondents' answers without interpretation or alteration. Ensure that all mandatory questions are completed correctly. Review completed questionnaires before submission. Upload survey data according to established procedures. Maintain regular communication with the Field Coordinator/Supervisor. Immediately report difficulties, refusals, safety concerns, or technical problems. Participate in daily briefings and debriefings when required. Respond to quality-control questions or requests for clarification from supervisors. Follow all data protection, ethical, safeguarding, and confidentiality procedures. Achieve agreed daily interview targets while maintaining data quality. Perform other reasonable field research tasks assigned by the Field Coordinator.

Candidates should have: Diploma, university degree, or current university studies in social sciences, statistics, economics, business, development studies, sociology, or another relevant area. Relevant field experience may be considered in place of formal academic qualifications.

Expérience

Previous experience conducting face-to-face surveys or interviews. Experience using electronic/mobile data collection applications is strongly preferred. Previous experience with KoboToolbox, ODK, SurveyCTO, or similar platforms is an advantage. Ability to communicate effectively with people from different socio-economic and community backgrounds.

Good interpersonal and interviewing skills. Ability to follow detailed instructions and survey protocols. High level of attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to work independently in the field while remaining accountable to supervisors. Fluency in Arabic is required. Ability to read and understand basic English instructions is an advantage. Knowledge of the local context in Baghdad and/or Basra is strongly preferred. Previous experience conducting surveys involving migrants, returnees, IDPs, youth, employment, livelihoods, or other vulnerable groups is an advantage. Availability for training, pilot testing, and the full fieldwork period. Commitment to confidentiality, neutrality, respectful conduct, and research ethics.
