Health Promotion and Community Engagement Manager

From a mobile app campaign to get victims of sexual violence to access care in our hospitals through to holding community meetings to explain the importance of handwashing in refugee camps, health promotion and community engagement managers ensure outreach and access to MSF services.

As a health promotion and community engagement manager with Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF), you will assess, define, implement and supervise all health promotion and community engagement activities in the project area. These activities aim to collaborate with the community to increase their knowledge of health and health risks, improve current health practices, promote MSF services and support preventive activities.

This will be achieved through outreach activities bridging project and targeted communities, respecting their culture and practices thereby creating the most relevant and effective information, education and communication strategies. Your responsibilities will also include developing and adapting our health promotion material to ensure relevance, accuracy and comprehension. As this is a supervisory role, other crucial elements include recruitment, training, evaluation and development of the project’s health promotion staff.

Requirements

Bachelor or master’s degree in sociology, social communications, anthropology or public health. Minimum of two years work experience in health promotion in contexts similar to where MSF works (armed conflicts, disasters, public health emergencies or situations of healthcare exclusion). Experience in health education working with diverse communities. Experience in managing staff in a multicultural team (supervision and training). Fluency in English and French (Intermediate +, minimum level B2 in both). Other languages such as Spanish, Arabic, and Portuguese are valued, but not required. Available to work six to 12 months.

  • Never pay any amount of money — for a file, a training, a uniform, or an interview. A real employer never asks the candidate to pay.
  • Never send a photo of your ID card, passport, or banking details before you have physically verified the employer exists.
  • Always meet in a public place, during the day — never an isolated address, a private home, or a location you cannot verify in advance.
  • Tell a relative or friend exactly where you are going, with whom, and at what time — and share your live location if possible.
  • Search the company name online before going: a real business has a trace (website, reviews, other employees, an official address).
  • A salary that is far above the market rate for the position and the city is a red flag — be extra cautious.
