The Public Private Partnership Commission (PPPC), under the Digital Malawi Acceleration Project funded by the International Development Association (IDA) of the World Bank, invites qualified individual consultants to submit Expressions of Interest for the role of Data Centre Cloud Architect in Lilongwe. This initiative seeks to enhance internet accessibility and inclusion while bolstering the Government of Malawi’s ability to deliver digitally enabled public services. The selected consultant will be stationed at the National Data Centre in Lilongwe, collaborating with the Department of e-Government to design, strategize, and implement cloud solutions while reinforcing digital infrastructure. The engagement spans a two-year period, renewable annually contingent on performance, with potential for contract extension. Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline, with a Master’s Degree serving as an added advantage. A minimum of five years of experience in cloud architecture is required, including at least two years within a data centre setting. Preferred certifications include AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Microsoft Certified Azure Solutions Architect Expert, or Google Professional Cloud Architect, with hybrid cloud experience considered advantageous. Proficiency in cloud security practices—such as Identity and Access Management (IAM), encryption, and firewalls—as well as a strong grasp of data centre technologies, including servers, storage, networking, and virtualization, is essential. Familiarity with Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS), containerization, and orchestration tools like Docker and Kubernetes is also required. Key responsibilities involve designing, planning, and deploying cloud solutions at the National Data Centre, assisting the Data Centre Manager in executing duties, ensuring adherence to industry-leading cloud architecture and data centre operational standards, and supporting the development of secure, interoperable digital government infrastructure. The consultant will deliver high-quality results within stipulated timelines while fostering collaboration with technical and management teams in the Department of e-Government.
