Situé au sein de l'écorégion de la forêt côtière équatoriale atlantique, le parc national de Campo-Ma'an (CMNP, 264 064 ha) et ses zones tampons (776 202 ha au total) abritent une biodiversité exceptionnelle : éléphants de forêt, gorilles des plaines occidentales, chimpanzés, buffles et une grande diversité d'autres mammifères.
