The Role You will lead Field Operations for Evidence Action’s newly established In-Line Chlorination Innovation Team as part of the Safe Water Now Program. Through this role, you will ensure the delivery of safe drinking water across Kenya, Uganda, Malawi, and India by implementing water chlorination solutions. Supported by robust research demonstrating that chlorination can reduce child mortality by over 20%, this initiative represents one of the most economically efficient health interventions worldwide. The organization’s latest initiative, In-Line Chlorination (ILC), autonomously disinfects water during its transit through piped networks, thereby minimizing the need for end-user behavioral adjustments compared to conventional methods. As ILC expands, critical considerations persist regarding the enhancement of device efficacy, the reduction of operational expenditures, and the reinforcement of community participation. Effectively addressing these challenges will determine ILC’s viability as a scalable, economically efficient solution capable of serving millions of additional individuals. To this end, Evidence Action is establishing a specialized Innovation team tasked with identifying solutions. Manages a team of direct reports, overseeing their performance, professional development, and overall productivity to ensure alignment with organizational goals. Provides guidance, mentorship, and constructive feedback to enhance individual and team effectiveness, while fostering a collaborative and high-performing work environment. Responsible for delegating tasks, monitoring progress, and addressing performance issues as needed to maintain operational excellence. Field Technicians are responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing equipment across various locations, ensuring optimal performance and minimal downtime. They conduct thorough inspections, diagnose issues, and execute necessary repairs while adhering to safety protocols and industry regulations. This role requires proficiency in technical troubleshooting, strong problem-solving abilities, and the capacity to work independently or collaboratively in dynamic environments. Candidates must possess a valid driver’s license, relevant certifications, and prior experience in a technical or field service capacity. Effective communication skills are essential for interacting with clients, coordinating with team members, and documenting service reports accurately. Oversee a diverse range of operational duties, ensuring efficiency and alignment with organizational goals. Manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining high standards of performance. Coordinate cross-functional teams to drive collaborative outcomes and meet project deadlines. Monitor workflows to identify areas for improvement and implement strategic solutions. Develop and execute plans to optimize resource allocation and enhance productivity. Liaise with stakeholders to gather feedback and address operational challenges. The position will be primarily situated in Male, Uganda, with frequent travel required to various field locations.
