MIKA HOTELS MANAGEMENT ACCOUNTANT Job Summary The Management Accountant is tasked with preparing and distributing precise and prompt financial and managerial reports, overseeing and regulating production expenditures, compiling and overseeing budgets, and evaluating financial performance across the Hotels and Lodge locations. Additionally, the role encompasses safeguarding the accuracy of production costing, administering fixed assets, and aiding strategic business decisions through detailed financial analysis and variance reporting. By fulfilling these responsibilities, the Management Accountant significantly contributes to preserving the financial stability and operational effectiveness of the organization. Job Description Key Responsibilities: 1. Management Accounting and Reporting: Compile precise management accounting reports, such as financial statements and production cost analyses. Responsible for monitoring weekly production variances and entering them into Sage, while maintaining accurate documentation and conducting thorough reconciliations. Compile and deliver weekly production variance reports to senior management, emphasizing significant findings and their financial implications. Track and communicate any cost fluctuations impacting product pricing promptly to sustain advantageous and competitive gross margins. 2. Budgeting and Expenditure Tracking: Direct the development of yearly financial plans, engaging with key stakeholders across departments to establish precise budgetary forecasts. Evaluate monthly spending in relation to the allocated budget, identifying any discrepancies and proposing corrective measures as needed. Prepare monthly financial forecasts and support the re-forecasting process as needed. 3. Production Costing: Oversee production expenditures to guarantee adherence to allocated budgets and established financial objectives. Conduct comprehensive cost evaluations of manufacturing operations to uncover opportunities for financial optimization and operational enhancements. Accurately calculate and maintain precise costing for all products and services by thoroughly evaluating raw materials, labor expenditures, and overhead costs. 4. Fixed Asset Management: Oversee the company’s fixed asset register to maintain precise records of asset acquisitions, disposals, and depreciation. Verify adherence to corporate policies governing asset capitalization and conduct periodic audits of fixed assets. 5. Operational Expenditure (Opex) Control: Monitor operational expenditures (OPEX) meticulously and verify they remain within allocated budgetary parameters. Analyze expenditure trends to pinpoint inefficiencies, collaborating with department leaders to implement cost-saving measures and prevent unnecessary expenditures. 6. Stock and Inventory Control: Each week, conduct a thorough review of stock-on-hand reports and validate stock movement reports confirming their accuracy. Record all stock movements within the company’s ERP system, maintaining accurate reconciliation with production and sales documentation. Perform regular stock counts and audits to verify accuracy and adherence to established company procedures. 7. Business Opportunity Assessment: Evaluate potential business opportunities and emerging product developments through a financial lens, offering strategic recommendations to management regarding anticipated profitability. Assist management with pricing evaluations, verifying that prices align with production costs, prevailing market conditions, and established profitability objectives. 8. ERP and Financial System Administration: Oversight and maintenance of enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems and financial applications, ensuring optimal performance, data integrity, and compliance with organizational and regulatory standards. This includes system configuration, user access management, troubleshooting technical issues, and implementing updates or enhancements to improve functionality and efficiency. Responsibilities also encompass financial data processing, report generation, and integration with other business systems to support informed decision-making and operational excellence. Verify that all financial transactions pertaining to production, stock, and variances are accurately and promptly recorded in the ERP system (such as Sage). Collaborate with IT and finance departments to optimize ERP system functionality, thereby strengthening financial reporting accuracy and internal controls. 9. Financial Analysis : Perform comprehensive financial evaluations and furnish strategic insights to leadership to facilitate informed decision-making. Conduct in-depth evaluations of financial data to uncover key trends, variances, and potential areas for enhanced performance. To establish and uphold financial metrics and KPIs (Key Performance Indicators) for performance monitoring. Qualifications & Requirements ARCA, CIA, CA Zambia, or an equivalent professional accounting certification is required. We seek a candidate with at least five years of professional experience in a Senior Accountant or Management Accountant role within a well-regarded organization, ideally within the service industry or comparable sectors. Proficient in accounting principles, financial reporting, and budgeting methodologies. Demonstrated expertise in financial analysis, coupled with a track record of delivering strategic insights to senior management. Possesses a strong command of financial systems and demonstrates advanced proficiency in both accounting software and Microsoft Excel. Demonstrated ability to lead teams and manage personnel effectively. The role requires a high degree of self-motivation and the capacity to effectively organize and prioritize tasks while handling multiple responsibilities simultaneously. Demonstrates outstanding communication abilities, facilitating seamless interactions with stakeholders across all organizational levels.
