Position: Volunteer Show Host Organization: Black Mental Health Matters Show Reports To: Executive Producer Location: Remote Time Commitment: 5–10 hours/week, flexible (recording schedule to be agreed with production team)Compensation: Volunteer / unpaid position Role Summary The Volunteer Show Host leads warm, empathetic, and engaging conversations on the Black Mental Health Matters Show, guiding guests — therapists, advocates, and lived-experience voices — through discussions that break the silence and stigma around mental health in Black communities. This role is central to the show’s voice and tone, requiring someone who can hold space for difficult topics while keeping episodes accessible, honest, and grounded in culture and community. Key Responsibilities.
Host and moderate recorded and/or live episodes of the show
Conduct guest interviews with therapists, advocates, and lived-experience voices

Research guest backgrounds and prepare thoughtful, well-informed interview questions
Create a safe, warm, and non-judgmental space for sensitive conversations
Collaborate with the production team on episode themes, scheduling, and format
Help promote episodes across social media and community channels
Maintain a tone and messaging consistent with BMHM’s mission and values Qualifications
Strong public speaking, interviewing, and active listening skills
Genuine passion for Black mental health advocacy
Comfortable discussing sensitive and personal topics with empathy and care
Prior hosting, broadcasting, public speaking, or podcasting experience preferred
Reliable, organized, and able to commit to a consistent recording schedule
Comfortable with Restream, Zoom, or similar recording/streaming platforms What You’ll Gain
