The Public Private Partnership Commission (PPPC) is seeking Expressions of Interest from suitably qualified individual consultants for the role of Data Centre Cloud Architect, as part of the Digital Malawi Acceleration Project, which is financed by the International Development Association (IDA) of the World Bank. The project’s primary objective is to enhance internet accessibility and inclusive usage while bolstering the Government of Malawi’s ability to deliver digitally enabled public services. The selected consultant will be stationed at the National Data Centre in Lilongwe, where they will assist the Department of e-Government in developing, planning, and deploying cloud solutions while reinforcing digital infrastructure. The consultant’s engagement is for a two-year period, renewable annually contingent on satisfactory performance, with potential for contract extension. Key Requirements: A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline is essential, with a Master’s Degree considered advantageous. Applicants must possess a minimum of five years of professional experience in cloud architecture, including at least two years specifically within a data centre environment. Professional certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert, or Google Professional Cloud Architect are required, with additional value placed on expertise in hybrid cloud environments. Profound knowledge of cloud security principles, encompassing Identity and Access Management (IAM), encryption, and firewalls, is mandatory, alongside a strong grasp of data centre technologies, including servers, storage, networking, and virtualization. Familiarity with Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) and experience in containerization and orchestration technologies, such as Docker and Kubernetes, are also necessary.
