PURPOSE Oversee the entirety of the Grade Control program’s operations. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES This position will be required to adhere to all relevant requirements, policies, procedures and legal regulations pertaining to health, safety, environment and quality, as well as finance, human resources, and any other regulations as required by the company and relevant to the level of the role and responsibilities of the function. Production: Grade control data validation, alongside meticulous database management, is required. Professional Rewrite: Field verification of ore grade control and layout markings is required. Collaborate closely with plant operations to verify adherence to or quality standards, maintain recoveries within specified parameters, and optimize ore blending strategies. Oversee a group of field technicians in the pit to guarantee the completion of daily blend plans and ensure mined ore is transported to the appropriate destinations. Manage stockpile inventory. Ensure that all daily and end-of-month reports adhere to the highest quality standards. Offer constructive feedback to mine planners and senior resource geologists regarding encountered issues. RC grade control program ; Oversee the reverse circulation drilling program designed to delineate intricate geological features within the Kansas deposit. Liaise with Senior mine geologist to evaluate current drill pattern design and ensure they remain practical, given increased geological knowledge and changes to ore domains in the deposit. Oversee a substantial workforce comprising field technicians and samplers. All drilling and sampling operations must be executed with the highest regard for safety protocols and procedures. Oversee drilling contractors to ensure compliance with all quality and safety standards outlined in the drilling agreement. Oversee the progression of sample data from the pit, through the laboratory processes, and into the database. Collaborate with the database administrator to verify the integrity and secure storage of data. Oversee the development, implementation, and maintenance of QA/QC programs, while actively identifying and addressing accuracy discrepancies within the onsite laboratory. The organization is responsible for advancing and refining global best practice sampling standards and procedures on an ongoing basis. QUALIFICATIONS A Bachelor of Science degree in Geology or an equivalent qualification, such as a Bachelor’s degree with Honors in Geology, Mining Geology, or a related field, is required.
EXPERIENCE
Professional Rewriting: A minimum of three to five years of hands-on experience in the field of Mining Geology is required. Experienced professionals in base metals and open-pit mining are strongly preferred. Proficiency in utilizing Surface, Data mine, or Map Info/Discover 3D is required. Knowledge of LIMS systems (advantageous) BEHAVIOURAL TRAITS Strong team ethic Ability to work independently Demonstrated proficiency in both oral and written communication is essential.
