ROLE PURPOSE The Project Officer (PO) will collaborate closely with the Project Coordinator in a dynamic and multifunctional capacity, contributing significantly to the seamless implementation and operational execution of the Mylitta project. This role demands a steadfast dedication to advancing the project’s goals by facilitating meticulous operational planning, providing robust logistical and administrative support across every phase of the project lifecycle. The Project Officer will collaborate on the creation and execution of comprehensive project plans, track progress diligently, and ensure timely completion of all project milestones while strictly adhering to allocated budgets. The role will also encompass coordinating communication among key stakeholders, coordinating workshops and meetings, and meticulously documenting project activities and outcomes. Moreover, the Project Officer will support the preparation of reports and documentation critical for evaluating project performance and will provide assistance to the implementing partners’ team in the districts. This position plays a pivotal role in driving the overall success and impact of the Mylitta Project. As a staff member of a child-centered international development and humanitarian organization, the Project Officer is responsible for adhering to Plan International’s safeguarding and SHEA (Preventing Sexual Harassment, Exploitation, and Abuse) policies, as well as its commitments to gender equality, inclusion, and diversity. All Plan International staff are required to embody the organization’s core values and behaviors in all professional and personal conduct. DIMENSION OF THE ROLE Maintain a comprehensive overview of both scheduled and active project work, including timelines and critical milestones. Provide assistance in executing project activities, ensuring adherence to quality standards, compiling reports, supervising monitoring and evaluation efforts, and managing communications, all in strict accordance with the project proposal and donor agreement.

- Collaborate closely with the Project Coordinator to identify and engage input suppliers and private sector entities operating within the coffee value chain in Tarim, Mara. Provide assistance in the execution, oversight, and assessment of all initiatives and their corresponding deliverables in alignment with the Results Framework and Implementation Plan. Actively contribute to the organization’s risk management initiatives by identifying potential risks and documenting them in accordance with established company procedures. Maintain a well-informed perspective on project developments to ensure comprehensive risk oversight and alignment with organizational standards.
Financial Management: Assist in the oversight of project finances by overseeing invoicing procedures, reconciling expenses, and managing budgets, while also preparing and presenting financial reports. Support the project-level procurement planning by assisting in the development and maintenance of procurement plans, ensuring ongoing and upcoming procurements are accurately tracked and updated as necessary. Ensure adherence to internal procurement policies and compliance with applicable client regulations throughout all procurement activities. Contribute to the development, refinement, and presentation of written materials through drafting, editing, and formatting. Provide research assistance for designated projects as required. Support scheduling and coordinate logistical arrangements for engagement and major events involving project stakeholders across the five operational districts of the project councils. Maintain digital knowledge management platforms tailored to specific projects, ensuring the organization and streamlined management of electronic project folders within SharePoint. Ensure timely compliance with all relevant donor requirements by staying current on key regulations and securing any necessary approvals or waivers. TECHNICAL EXPERTISE, SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE Required experience and Qualifications A bachelor’s degree in agribusiness, agricultural economics, agriculture, entrepreneurship, business administration, commerce, or economics is required. A minimum of three years of pertinent experience within the international non-governmental organization (INGO) sector is required. Proven capacity to operate autonomously with minimal oversight, demonstrating self-direction and accountability in completing assigned tasks efficiently. Proven track record in effectively managing and facilitating integrated projects that span multiple sectors.

- Prior professional experience collaborating with development partners and local government entities is essential.
Demonstrated professional experience collaborating with organizations in the private sector or within roles that interface closely with private enterprise. Experienced candidates should possess a strong background in collaboration with coffee farmers, as well as key industry associations such as AMCOS, WAM ACU, and regulatory and research entities specializing in coffee cultivation and commercial practices. Proficiency in engaging with children and community stakeholders, alongside expertise in overseeing child-focused initiatives and projects, would be considered a valuable asset for this role.
