Responsabilités

A Land Management Officer is responsible for overseeing the sustainable use and conservation of land resources, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and land-use policies. They conduct assessments of land conditions, prepare detailed reports on land status, and collaborate with government agencies, landowners, and stakeholders to develop land management plans. Additionally, they monitor land use activities, enforce regulatory standards, and provide recommendations to optimize land utilization while protecting natural habitats. Strong analytical, communication, and project management skills are essential, along with proficiency in GIS software and data analysis tools. A degree in environmental science, land management, or a related field is required, and prior experience in land administration or resource management is preferred. Resilience Uganda Ltd seeks a highly motivated and skilled professional to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of three years of relevant experience, with a strong background in project management, community development, or a related field. Proficiency in both written and spoken English is essential, while knowledge of a local language would be advantageous. The successful applicant will be responsible for overseeing project implementation, coordinating with stakeholders, and ensuring adherence to timelines and budgets. Additionally, they will conduct regular monitoring and evaluation activities, prepare comprehensive reports, and foster sustainable partnerships to drive impactful outcomes. Agriculture, Food, and Natural Resources professionals manage, develop, and optimize resources vital to sustaining life and ecosystems. They oversee agricultural production, ensure food safety standards, and implement conservation strategies to protect natural habitats. Key responsibilities include cultivating crops, raising livestock, monitoring environmental regulations, and advancing sustainable practices. The field requires expertise in biology, chemistry, engineering, or related disciplines, alongside problem-solving abilities and a commitment to innovation. Candidates should possess strong analytical skills, hands-on experience in farming or resource management, and familiarity with industry technologies. Collaboration with scientists, policymakers, and industry leaders is essential for driving progress in this dynamic sector. Farming and outdoor industries, management roles, scientific and engineering positions, agribusiness, agricultural services and products, environmental sectors, as well as civil and governmental organizations. Responsible for overseeing and implementing land management policies, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and promoting sustainable land use practices. Duties include conducting land assessments, coordinating with stakeholders, preparing reports on land utilization, and advising on zoning and development regulations. Requires a bachelor’s degree in environmental science, forestry, or a related field, along with at least three years of experience in land management, conservation, or a similar role. Strong analytical, communication, and project management skills are essential, as well as proficiency in GIS software and land-use planning tools. Reports directly to the Pathway II Coordinator and the Country Manager, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives and operational standards. This position requires close collaboration with senior leadership to maintain consistency in program execution and to support key decision-making processes. Additionally, the role involves providing regular updates and progress reports to facilitate transparent communication within the organizational hierarchy. Resilience Uganda invites applications for the position of Land Management Officer to support their committed project team in Eastern Uganda as part of the INSPIRE program, spanning from 2025 to 2029. Under the leadership of GOAL and Wageningen Environmental Research, the INSPIRE initiative seeks to strengthen economic and agricultural resilience in rural areas across Mango and Busoni. Resilience Uganda will spearhead the execution of Pathway II, with a dedicated focus on Sustainable Farming Systems as part of the INSPIRE program. THE POSITION We seek a qualified professional to contribute to our ongoing initiative in Uganda. The primary focus will involve supporting smallholder farmers in adopting sustainable land management practices, enhancing productivity, and strengthening resilience to unexpected adversities. Collaboration with a diverse team comprising Market Development Officers, Community Engagement Officers, and Cooperative Advisors will be essential to successfully implement the INSPIRE program. Your responsibilities will include the following duties: Oversee and manage a diverse range of administrative and operational tasks to ensure seamless workflow and efficiency within the organization. Coordinate and execute projects from inception to completion, adhering to established timelines and budgetary constraints. Facilitate communication between departments to promote collaboration and alignment with strategic objectives. Maintain accurate records, prepare detailed reports, and analyze data to support informed decision-making processes. Provide high-level support to senior management, including preparing presentations, drafting correspondence, and organizing executive schedules. Ensure compliance with company policies, industry regulations, and legal requirements through meticulous attention to detail. We collaborate closely with fellow officers and technicians within the INSPIRE program, ensuring cohesive project execution. Additionally, we assist in executing activities outlined in the program, which may extend beyond land management to encompass broader initiatives. We also contribute to the development of Integrated Community Plans, particularly by providing expertise in land and water management aspects. We are seeking a dedicated professional to advance and advocate for sustainable farming systems, ensuring their adoption and integration into agricultural practices. In this role, you will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies that promote eco-friendly farming techniques, reduce environmental impact, and enhance long-term productivity. Your duties will include collaborating with farmers, agricultural experts, and policymakers to disseminate best practices, provide training on sustainable methods, and evaluate the effectiveness of these initiatives. Additionally, you will monitor industry trends, assess technological advancements, and recommend innovative solutions to support the transition toward more resilient and sustainable agricultural models. Strong communication skills, a deep understanding of sustainable agriculture, and experience in agricultural education or outreach are essential for success in this position. Provide guidance to farmers in assessing their land management requirements to ensure optimal productivity and sustainability. Develop comprehensive, integrated strategies tailored to smallholder farm plots with an emphasis on sustainable agricultural practices. These plans will encompass a range of eco-friendly techniques to enhance productivity while preserving natural resources. Provide tailored training sessions on climate-smart agricultural practices, soil conservation, and land management upon request to enhance operational efficiency and sustainability. Annually, coordinate farmer exchange visits and roadshows designed to highlight innovative agricultural practices and foster knowledge sharing among participants. Establish demonstration plots to showcase sustainable land use practices, providing tangible examples of effective methodologies. Coordinate annual competitions to highlight achievements and drive engagement, fostering an environment of excellence and continuous improvement. The position involves designing and implementing comprehensive training programs as well as fostering skill development initiatives to enhance organizational capabilities. Responsibilities include identifying training needs, developing instructional materials, delivering sessions, and evaluating effectiveness to ensure continuous improvement. The role requires collaboration with stakeholders to align training objectives with strategic goals, promoting a culture of lifelong learning and professional growth within the team.

  • Conduct Tot (Trainers of Trainers) sessions for project members and partner organizations, focusing on sustainable land management practices.

Deliver specialized technical instruction on sustainable land management techniques for smallholder farmers (SHF) and related stakeholders. Develop demonstration plots to showcase sustainable land management techniques and best practices. Craft engaging video content that highlights optimal methodologies for effective dissemination, actively participating in the content development process. Collaborative teamwork is essential for achieving collective goals and driving project success. Engaging with diverse stakeholders ensures alignment and fosters innovation. Strong interpersonal skills, adaptability, and a willingness to share insights are crucial for effective cooperation. Commitment to open communication and mutual support enhances productivity and problem-solving across departments. Collaborate with a diverse team of INSPIRE staff members across various pathways to ensure the successful delivery of the program. Collaborate with diverse technical governmental personnel and relevant stakeholders to ensure projects are executed effectively and sustained over time. 5. REQUIREMENTS A Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Science, Soil Science, Environmental Management, or a closely related discipline is required, with a Master’s degree serving as a favorable qualification. Requires 5 to 10 years of hands-on experience in the advancement of sustainable land management practices. Requires a solid grasp of smallholder agricultural methods, soil and water conservation techniques, prevention of soil erosion, and effective community interaction. Fluency in both English and the local languages of the Mango Sub-region is essential for this role.

Location: Within the Mango Sub-Region Other Skills: Demonstrated expertise in generating comprehensive reports, along with advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel, and the ability to operate motorcycles safely and efficiently.
