ESG and Learning & Evaluation (LE) Coordinator

ESG & MEL Specialist This role will assist in the execution of an EU-funded initiative aimed at enhancing manufacturing and engineering capabilities through industrial modernization, equipment installation, workforce skill enhancement, and employment generation. This role offers a distinctive chance to spearhead sustainability compliance initiatives and assess performance outcomes within an expanding engineering and manufacturing setting.
About the Role
The ESG & MEL Specialist will oversee the alignment of workshop operations and project activities with EU environmental, social, and governance standards, as well as reporting obligations. Additionally, the role involves monitoring and evaluating measurable production and development outcomes. This position serves as a critical link between industrial operations, regulatory compliance, sustainability initiatives, and donor reporting requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Ensure adherence to environmental regulations by overseeing waste management, emissions control, energy consumption, and proper chemical handling practices. Ensure adherence to workshop safety protocols, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), lockout/ragout (LOT) procedures, and machine guarding measures. Monitor progress toward achieving gender equality and youth employment objectives. Maintain systems for tracking indicators within the EU Log frame framework. Compile quarterly and annual narrative reports outlining donor contributions and impact. Provide assistance with European Union (EU) audit initiatives and Results-Oriented Monitoring (ROM) assignments. Maintain up-to-date risk registers to ensure comprehensive documentation of potential risks, while actively contributing to the development and execution of sustainability plans to align with organizational goals and compliance standards. Verify the accuracy and consistency of production outputs associated with machinery funded by the European Union.
What We’re Looking For
Applicants must possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Industrial Management, Project Management, or an equivalent field. Experienced professionals with a proven track record of 2 to 6 years in manufacturing, engineering, ESG compliance, or M&E are encouraged to apply. Demonstrates a comprehensive knowledge of industrial safety and environmental regulations and compliance requirements. Proficiency in Logical Framework Approach (Log frame) and Results-Based Management (RBM) methodologies is required. Proficient in Excel and data reporting are required. Demonstrated commitment to ethical standards and meticulous accuracy in all tasks. Proficiency in managing or contributing to projects funded by the European Union is highly desirable.
