Job description: P urpose of the role: The Mining Superintendent will be supported in overseeing a versatile shift team tasked with the projects, maintenance, operation, and construction or relocation of the dewatering section, which includes pit dewatering pumps, dam pontoon pumps, and the flocculation/coagulation area. Key Duties and Responsibilities: Ensure strict adherence to all statutory compliance and HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment) requirements, with immediate reporting of any incidents. To guarantee that all maintenance, construction, and monitoring activities are executed safely and efficiently, thereby ensuring optimal reliability and uptime. The incumbent will oversee the operation of all mining infrastructure equipment, with a primary focus on ensuring the dewatering systems function smoothly, efficiently, and effectively. Perform equipment isolation as required to facilitate safe maintenance activities, strictly adhering to supervisory directives and all applicable legal standards. Uphold consistently exceptional housekeeping standards to ensure an immaculate environment. To uphold key performance indicators (KPIs) such as timely maintenance, adherence to FEMA water quality standards, optimal water buffer levels, and strict Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) compliance. Perform comprehensive shift handovers in a timely, documented, and accurate manner, including reporting performance KPIs, completed tasks, equipment status, and key focus areas. Achieving daily work group objectives while adhering to established policies and procedures. Demonstrating a proactive approach by effectively prioritizing tasks, systematically tracking assignment progress, and maintaining personal accountability for outcomes. Drive yourself and your team to surmount challenges and attain objectives with determination and persistence. Responsible for planning and supporting the execution of work layouts for new projects. To maintain optimal plant availability at all times. Demonstrates a strong capability to collaborate across various departments while minimizing any impact on plant operational schedules. Proactively identifies potential safety risks, taking immediate corrective action when feasible or escalating unresolved issues to the appropriate supervisor for further review. The incumbent is responsible for ensuring strict compliance with and enforcement of all health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures established by the company. Daily attendance at safety meetings and toolbox talks is required. Perform other duties as may be designated by the supervisor from time to time. Qualifications & Experience Full Grade 12 certificate Diploma in a Mechanical discipline is the required qualification for this role, with candidates holding a degree in the same field being particularly desirable. Member of the Engineering Institutions of Zambia (LIZ) and registered with the Engineering Registration Board (ERA). Professional Rewrite: Applicants must possess a minimum of five years of experience in a supervisory capacity. Professional background involving mine dewatering operations or comparable settings is required.
