Job description: P urpose of the role: As a key member of the operations team, you will provide support to the Mining Superintendent by overseeing a diverse, multi-skilled shift crew tasked with the projects, maintenance, operation, and construction or relocation of the dewatering section, which includes, but is not limited to, pit dewatering pumps, dam pontoon pumps, and the flocculation/coagulation area. Key Duties and Responsibilities: Ensure strict adherence to all statutory compliance and HSE requirements, while promptly reporting any incidents that occur. To uphold the highest standards of reliability and system uptime, we require all maintenance, construction, and monitoring activities to be executed with unwavering commitment to safety and operational efficiency. Accountable for operating all mining infrastructure equipment, he will maintain the dewatering systems’ optimal performance, ensuring seamless, efficient, and effective operations. Perform equipment isolation as required to facilitate safe maintenance activities, strictly adhering to supervisory instructions and legal compliance standards. Ensure meticulous attention to housekeeping standards at all times. Ensure adherence to all key performance indicators pertaining to timely maintenance, adherence to water quality standards as specified by the Zambia Environmental Management Agency (FEMA), management of water buffer levels, and compliance with health, safety, and environmental (HSE) protocols. Document, at the end of each shift, all performance metrics, completed tasks, equipment condition and critical focus areas in a clear and precise manner to ensure seamless continuity. Achieving daily work group objectives by adhering to established policies and procedures. Through strategic prioritization of tasks, meticulous tracking of assignment progress, and a steadfast commitment to personal accountability for outcomes, exceptional results are consistently delivered. Developing and implementing comprehensive plans for the execution of new project initiatives, including providing support in the organizational structure and procedural frameworks. To maintain optimal plant availability at all times. A demonstrated capacity to collaborate effectively across various disciplines, ensuring minimal disruption to plant operating schedules. Identify potential safety hazards and either resolve them independently or escalate them to a supervisor for further action. Ensure strict compliance with and enforcement of the company’s health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures across all operations. Review safety hazard reports, take corrective action as needed, or escalate unresolved issues to the Supervisor for further action. Daily participation in safety meetings and toolbox talks is required. As determined by the supervisor, additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed. Qualifications & Experience Full Grade 12 certificate Educational qualifications must include at least a Diploma in a Mechanical discipline, with a degree serving as an additional benefit. Member of EIZ and registered with ERB A minimum of five years of experience in a supervisory capacity is required. Professional Rewriting: A background in mine dewatering operations or analogous industrial settings is required. Job Specific Competencies Demonstrated expertise in the design, operation, and maintenance of pumping and piping systems is essential. A strong grasp of environmental compliance principles and water quality standards is required. We value a strong understanding of water drainage systems.
