Risk and Compliance Intern This position offers a valuable opportunity to gain hands-on experience within a dynamic risk and compliance framework. The successful candidate will support the development, implementation, and monitoring of risk management policies and regulatory compliance procedures. Key responsibilities include assisting in risk assessments, conducting compliance audits, and ensuring adherence to legal and organizational standards. Additionally, the intern will collaborate with cross-functional teams to analyze data, identify potential risks, and propose mitigation strategies. Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a solid understanding of risk frameworks and regulatory requirements are essential. Proficiency in relevant software tools and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment are also required. Ideal candidates should be pursuing or have recently completed a degree in finance, business administration, law, or a related field, with a keen interest in risk management and compliance. Role Overview: Spectrum Credit Limited is now recruiting a diligent, proactive, and ethically grounded professional to fill the role of Credit Analyst within our expanding team. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to accuracy, thoroughness, and integrity while contributing to our risk assessment and financial decision-making processes. Risk and Compliance Intern The ideal candidate will assist the Risk and Compliance Department in maintaining adherence to regulatory obligations, organizational policies, and recognized industry standards while acquiring practical exposure to compliance functions. Location/ Branches: Lusaka, HQ Key Responsibilities The position encompasses a variety of duties, including—but not limited to—the following responsibilities: Ensuring adherence to regulatory standards through diligent compliance oversight while proactively detecting and assessing potential risks. You will support the preparation of reports, record findings accurately, and ensure compliance documentation is current and complete. Researching and analyzing relevant legislation, regulatory frameworks, and internal company policies forms a core part of this role. The position requires thorough examination of legal statutes, compliance requirements, and organizational guidelines to ensure alignment with industry standards and corporate objectives. We partner with cross-functional teams to enhance compliance programs and drive collective adherence to regulatory standards. Assisting in the development of effective strategies to address risk and compliance issues. Contributing to the enhancement of process efficiency and the modernization of systems within the compliance department. Qualifications A relevant qualification such as a degree in Finance, a certificate in Risk Management, or an equivalent credential is required. Skills and Competencies Attention to detail – Proven aptitude for meticulously detecting errors and inconsistencies with precision. Integrity and ethics Exhibit unwavering integrity, safeguard sensitive information, and uphold rigorous ethical principles in all professional interactions. Analytical thinking – Proficient in evaluating risks and comprehensively analyzing regulatory requirements with sound judgment. Communication skills Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, are required. Organizational skills Demonstrates strong organizational skills by effectively overseeing task completion, adhering to deadlines, and maintaining accurate documentation. Technical proficiency Proficient in utilizing Microsoft Office applications, specifically Excel and Word, as well as compliance software, with a demonstrated level of comfort and familiarity in their operation. Risk awareness Possesses a comprehensive understanding of operational, financial, legal, and reputational risk factors and their implications. Problem-solving ability Collaborates in devising feasible resolutions to compliance-related obstacles. Adaptability, the capacity to collaborate effectively within a team, a commitment to professional conduct, and exceptional time management skills are essential.
