Malawi Housing Corporation (MHC), the leading provider of housing and related services in Malawi, was established under the Malawi Housing Act of 1964 (Cap. 32:02). Our primary function involves constructing residential units, developing land parcels, and managing existing properties. Following an amendment to the Act in December 2016, MHC transitioned into a fully commercial entity, broadening its mission to deliver quality, affordable housing solutions. We are currently seeking skilled and experienced professionals to fill vital roles within our organization. Successful candidates will demonstrate exceptional academic achievement, professional certifications, relevant hands-on experience, and the specialized skills necessary to advance our strategic goals.

Position: Maintenance Clerk

Location: Regional Offices (South and East)

Grade: HC 12

Reporting Line: Maintenance Supervisor / Regional Manager

Key Responsibilities:

Compile and process reports submitted by tenants, initiating job cards to initiate Tradesman intervention. Reconcile job cards and manage requisition requests for materials across various units within the department. Process material requisitions submitted by Tradesmen following their assessments. Prepare monthly timesheets and overtime documentation for all temporary staff. Conduct on-site inspections of completed Tradesman work prior to handover to the Supervisor or processing for payment. Produce and organize maintenance-related documents through typing and filing. Maintain accurate records and submit periodic reports as required.

Minimum Qualifications and Requirements:

Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE) with a City and Guilds Grade 1 Certificate, or a diploma in Business Administration, Human Resources, or a related discipline.

Experience Requirements:

A minimum of two years of direct experience in a relevant field.

Core Competencies:

Comprehensive understanding of maintenance operations. Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities. Excellent communication and decisive judgment skills. Ability to collaborate effectively and work independently with minimal supervision.
