IT Assistant

BrighterMonday Consulting recrute un IT Assistant pour un contrat basé à Kampala, en Ouganda, dans le secteur de l'hôtellerie. Ce poste relève du département Information Technology et est placé sous la responsabilité directe de l'IT Manager. Le contrat est à temps plein, avec des horaires de 8h à 17h, et requiert un niveau d'études minimum de Bachelor, une expérience de 2 ans minimum, et une bonne maîtrise de l'anglais.

L'IT Assistant assure le fonctionnement quotidien, la maintenance et le dépannage des systèmes technologiques de l'hôtel, notamment le matériel informatique, les logiciels, les réseaux, la téléphonie et les technologies destinées aux clients. Sous la direction de l'IT Manager, il garantit des services informatiques fiables, sécurisés et efficaces dans tous les départements de l'hôtel, contribuant directement à une expérience client fluide et à la continuité des opérations.

1. Support technique et dépannage

Fournir un support technique de première ligne aux employés de tous les départements (réception, housekeeping, restauration, ventes, finance, etc.). Diagnostiquer et résoudre rapidement les problèmes matériels, logiciels, d'imprimantes et de périphériques. Enregistrer, suivre et escalader les problèmes techniques non résolus à l'IT Manager si nécessaire. Tenir un journal de tickets d'assistance pour toutes les demandes et résolutions.

2. Support des systèmes et logiciels

Assister à l'installation, la configuration et la maintenance des systèmes de gestion de propriété (PMS), des systèmes de point de vente (POS) et d'autres logiciels opérationnels de l'hôtel. Soutenir les mises à jour logicielles, les correctifs et la gestion des licences sous la direction de l'IT Manager. Aider à la création de comptes utilisateurs, aux réinitialisations de mots de passe et aux permissions d'accès sur les systèmes de l'hôtel.

3. Maintenance du réseau et de l'infrastructure

Surveiller les performances du réseau local (LAN), du Wi-Fi et de la connectivité Internet de l'hôtel. Aider à la maintenance des câbles réseau, des commutateurs, des routeurs et des points d'accès. Soutenir les systèmes Wi-Fi clients, en assurant une connectivité constante et une résolution rapide des plaintes de connectivité des clients. Effectuer des vérifications de routine sur les serveurs, les systèmes de sauvegarde et autres systèmes de l'hôtel selon les instructions.

4. Gestion du matériel

Installer, configurer et maintenir les ordinateurs de bureau, portables, imprimantes et autres équipements informatiques. Tenir un inventaire des actifs informatiques, y compris l'émission et la récupération des équipements. Coordonner la maintenance préventive de base et le nettoyage des équipements informatiques. Aider au remplacement, à la mise à niveau et à l'élimination des équipements conformément à la politique de l'hôtel.

5. Support des technologies destinées aux clients

Soutenir les systèmes de divertissement en chambre, le Wi-Fi clients et les installations audiovisuelles des salles de réunion et de conférence. Répondre rapidement aux demandes technologiques des clients en coordination avec la réception et le housekeeping. Aider aux installations informatiques pour les événements, conférences et banquets de l'hôtel.

6. Sécurité des données et sauvegardes

Aider à effectuer des sauvegardes régulières des données pour les systèmes critiques de l'hôtel. Soutenir la mise en œuvre des protocoles de sécurité informatique, les mises à jour antivirus et les configurations de pare-feu. Signaler immédiatement toute suspicion de violation de sécurité, tentative de phishing ou vulnérabilité du système à l'IT Manager. Assurer la conformité avec les politiques de protection des données et de confidentialité de l'hôtel.

Key Roles & Responsibilities

    1. Technical Support & Troubleshooting
  • Provide first-line technical support to hotel staff across all departments (Front Office, Housekeeping, F&B, Sales, Finance, etc.)
  • Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, printer, and peripheral issues promptly.
  • Log, track, and escalate unresolved technical issues to the IT Manager as needed.
  • Maintain a helpdesk ticketing log for all reported issues and resolutions.
    1. Systems & Software Support
  • Assist in the installation, configuration, and maintenance of Property Management Systems (PMS), Point-of-Sale (POS) systems, and other hotel operational software.
  • Support software updates, patches, and license management under IT Manager guidance.

  • Assist with user account creation, password resets, and access permissions across hotel systems.
    1. Network & Infrastructure Maintenance
  • Monitor the performance of the hotel's local area network (LAN), Wi-Fi, and internet connectivity.
  • Assist in maintaining network cabling, switches, routers, and access points.
  • Support guest Wi-Fi systems, ensuring consistent connectivity and prompt resolution of guest connectivity complaints.
  • Perform routine checks on servers, backup systems, and other hotel systems as directed.
    1. Hardware Management
  • Set up, configure, and maintain desktops, laptops, printers, and other IT equipment.
  • Maintain an inventory of IT assets, including issuing and retrieving equipment.
  • Coordinate basic preventive maintenance and cleaning of IT equipment.
  • Assist with equipment replacement, upgrades, and disposal in line with hotel policy.
    1. Guest-Facing Technology Support
  • Support in-room entertainment systems, guest Wi-Fi, and meeting/conference room AV setups
  • Respond promptly to guest technology-related requests in coordination with Front Office /House Keeping.
  • Assist in IT setups for hotel events, conferences, and banquets.
    1. Data Security & Backup
  • Assist in performing regular data backups for critical hotel systems.
  • Support implementation of IT security protocols, antivirus updates, and firewall configurations.
  • Report any suspected security breaches, phishing attempts, or system vulnerabilities to the IT Manager immediately.
  • Ensure compliance with hotel data protection and confidentiality policies.
    1. Documentation & Reporting
  • Maintain accurate records of IT assets, licenses, warranties, and vendor contacts.
  • Document recurring issues and standard troubleshooting procedures for reference.
  • Prepare regular status reports for the IT Manager on outstanding issues, ongoing projects, and system performance.
    1. Vendor & Stakeholder Coordination
  • Liaise with external vendors and service providers for equipment repairs, installations, or contracted IT services, under the supervision of the IT Manager.
  • Coordinate with department heads to understand and address department-specific technology needs.
  • Support onboarding of new employees by setting up IT accounts, hardware, and system access.
    1. Compliance & Best Practices
  • Follow hotel IT policies, procedures, and standard operating procedures (SOPs) at all times.
  • Ensure all IT activities comply with brand standards (if applicable) and local regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in IT audits and support the IT Manager in implementing corrective actions.
    1. General Support
  • Provide after-hours or on-call IT support as scheduled or required.
  • Assist the IT Manager with special projects, system upgrades, and rollouts.

Responsabilités

  • Perform other IT-related duties as assigned by the IT Manager. Qualifications & Requirements
  • Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • At least 2 years of experience in an IT support role; hospitality industry experience preferred
  • Working knowledge of Windows/Mac OS, networking fundamentals (LAN/WAN, Wi-Fi), and basic server administration.
  • Familiarity with hotel PMS (e.g., Opera, Protel) and POS systems is an advantage.

Compétences requises

  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Good communication skills and a guest-service mindset.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and public holidays, as required by hotel operations.
