Office: ICCROM in Abidjan Job Title: National Coordinator – (Côte D'Ivoire) Unit: Programmes Unit Coordinator: Project Officer Type of contract: Individual Engagement Contract Monthly fee: 960 Euro / Month Term: Eleven months, renewable Duty Station: Remote/Based Closing date: 15 July 2026 General description of the project ICCROM’s multi-country project Towards Sustainable Development in Africa: Transformative Capacity Building to Advance Craftsmanship in Cultural Heritage Conservation focuses on strengthening local capacities for the conservation of cultural heritage across Côte D'Ivoire, Kenya, Egypt and Tunisia. The project will train and upskill craftspeople in both traditional and modern techniques, enhancing their professional development pathways and enabling them to contribute effectively to the maintenance and conservation of movable and immovable heritage. At the same time, participants will strengthen their employability and income-generating opportunities by enhancing their ability to access and compete in the labour market. They will also be equipped to pass on their expertise, ensuring sustainability and wider impact on the programme.

ICCROM collaborates with relevant institutions in Côte D'Ivoire to strengthen traditional craftsmanship, support skills development, and promote the conservation of cultural heritage in Africa. Through this collaboration, the project will implement training activities, knowledge exchange, research, and capacity-building initiatives in close coordination with artisan communities and heritage institutions. The main ICCROM Partner in Côte D'Ivoire for this project is   Musée des Civilisations de Côte d'Ivoire ; the National Coordinator serves as ICCROM’s focal point in Côte D'Ivoire for all activities related to the project. Key Deliverables and Tasks The National Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating project activities in the country, supporting project participants, local stakeholders, and host institutions, organizing events, collecting data, developing professional networks, and assisting consultants and the ICCROM team. The position ensures the smooth, effective implementation of project activities in accordance with the project workplan and ICCROM standards. Under the supervision of the Project Officer, the overall guidance of the Programmes Unit Manager, and in close collaboration with the project team at ICCROM, the appointee will: Coordinate all project activities at national level with relevant project partners and host institutions in the country, including providing support in designing and organizing training sessions, workshops, and capacity-building events. Contribute to undertaking stakeholders’ and beneficiaries’ needs assessment for the selection of artisans and heritage practitioners for the project. Provide administrative and operational support in line with the project activities and workplan. Support on-site research on cultural heritage and traditional crafts in Côte D'Ivoire in line with the project workplan. Document activities for monitoring, evaluation, and reporting. Contribute to communication outputs such as photos, testimonials, stories, and media content in line with ICCROM’s Communications Guidelines.

Support ICCROM’s personnel missions to Côte D'Ivoire. Produce regular reports (monthly and quarterly), including financial reports. Maintain comprehensive and well-organized documentation of activities.

Formation / Diplômes

Bachelor's or master's degree in project management, international relations, heritage studies, conservation, social sciences, anthropology, or related fields.

Expérience

Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in heritage or craft-related project management. Proven experience in research and documentation. Experience collaborating with public institutions, IGOs, NGOs, and local communities. Skills and knowledge Strong knowledge of cultural heritage and traditional crafts in Côte D'Ivoire. Excellent research and analytical skills. Strong networking and community engagement abilities. Experience in curating cultural events and training activities. Languages English and French are the working languages of ICCROM. Fluency in English (oral and written) is required. Knowledge of French or another official UN language is highly desirable.
