The International Rescue Committee (IRC) is seeking an Assistant Protection based in Kousseri, Cameroon, to implement activities related to the prevention and response to Gender-Based Violence (GBV) and child protection. The role involves working directly with survivors, local authorities, and community leaders to ensure psychosocial support and case management are conducted according to organizational principles and international standards. The Assistant Protection will also focus on community engagement, awareness-raising, and collaboration with various stakeholders to enhance protective mechanisms for vulnerable populations. This position requires a commitment to confidentiality, safety, and the well-being of survivors. Technical or university degree in social work, psychology, social sciences, gender studies, or related field At least 1 year of experience in GBV programs, protection, psychosocial support, or case management Experience in humanitarian or development contexts, especially in sensitive or high-risk environments Understanding of GBV dynamics and survivor-centered approaches Fluency in French; knowledge of local languages is a plus Familiarity with local customs and practices in Logone-et-Chari Ability to work respectfully with vulnerable women and adolescents
