HEAD OF AIRFREIGHT – DHL Global Forwarding Cameroon
DHL Global Forwarding, the air, ocean, and road freight specialist of Deutsche Post DHL Group, is recruiting a Head of Airfreight for its operations in Cameroon. In this key role, you will lead the airfreight sub-function at country level, contributing to the development and implementation of the functional strategy to ensure seamless flow of goods and information across customers’ global supply chains. You will proactively engage with customers and manage shipments in line with their expectations, while adhering to the country’s business strategy and corporate guidelines.
Your missions
Formulate the airfreight operations strategy in line with the country’s business strategy and global guidelines.
Lead planning and implementation of airfreight operations plans, measures, and budgets to achieve operational results, driving profitability, volume growth, and service expansion.
Develop, organize, and control large country projects and initiatives to provide fast, reliable, efficient, and cost-effective airfreight solutions.
Manage end-to-end capacity, optimize network procurement, and implement consolidation opportunities.
Oversee decisions related to operation sites, capacity procurement, technical support, and local purchasing according to global policy.
Monitor and act on preferred carrier usage and incentive deals within the country.
Steer market profiling and customer/competitor research to identify opportunities and challenges.
Define effective pricing strategies for profitable growth and guide new product identification and implementation.
Liaise with sales teams to support key customer interactions, providing pricing and margin guidance for bids, RFQs, and presentations.
Set and monitor compliance standards, procedures, and specifications in line with global guidelines.
Benchmark and embed best-in-class infrastructure and practices for airfreight operations.
Use available tools to proactively monitor and improve performance.
Conduct regular dialogues with the team to review quality and performance against targets.
Profile sought
Education: Master’s degree.
Experience: More than 8 years in a similar role.
