Senior Monitoring Officer, Cotonou, Benin Organization: Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN) Country: Benin City: Cotonou Office: GAIN in Cotonou Ensure to submit your CV in English About the role GAIN is seeking to recruit a Senior Monitoring Officer to ensure project monitoring across the GAIN Benin portfolio of projects and ensuring that the projects are in line with donor requirements and expected outputs and outcomes. They will provide technical support to the field project teams to design, coordinate and implement the monitoring framework of the various donor projects. This role will be offered on one (1) year fixed term contract, subject to availability of funding and will be based in Cotonou, Benin. This advert closes on 7 th May 2026 . Contribute to the development of programme theories of change and results frameworks and plans in collaboration with, project managers in Benin, and the Knowledge Leadership (KL) team. Contribute to the design and adaptation of the programme monitoring tools and processes, training and quality assurance of the programme monitoring components. Responsible for supporting with the oversight of the in-country monitoring activities for all projects. Support in the consolidation of the country Learning Agenda to capture project learning and inform improvements to projects and strategy. Ensure timely and good-quality routine activity progress monitoring and reporting by implementing partners. Manage and ensure consistent collection, analysis, review, and interpretation of programme monitoring data and prepare reports in alignment with donor and internal requirements on the project management tool. Manage and ensure consistent review, data analysis and preparation of reports on monitoring indicators. Review and interpret monitoring data as part of preparation for GAIN’s performance and donor reports and ensure quality of project reports aligning with the theory of change and results framework. Contribute to analysis of information collected and support all dissemination efforts including writing reports, briefs, and other materials. About you The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong expertise in programme monitoring, evaluation, and learning, with the ability to contribute to the design and implementation of theories of change, results frameworks, and monitoring systems. They will have experience developing and adapting monitoring tools, ensuring data quality, and supporting capacity building for project teams and implementing partners. A solid understanding of results-based management and the ability to translate programme objectives into practical monitoring processes is essential, alongside experience working collaboratively with cross-functional and country teams. The candidate should possess excellent analytical and reporting skills, with proven ability to manage, interpret, and synthesize data into high-quality reports aligned with donor and organisational requirements. They will be detail-oriented, capable of tracking programme performance, ensuring compliance, and maintaining organised documentation systems. Strong communication skills are required to support dissemination of findings, contribute to learning agendas, and drive continuous programme improvement. Experience conducting field visits, supporting work planning and budgeting, and ensuring timely delivery of milestones will be highly valued. About our offer The starting gross salary on offer for this role is from XOF 8,604,492 - XOF 9,833,700 gross per annum, depending on experience. Working Conditions All of our positions are based in one or more of GAIN’s designated offices as stated on our job advertisements. Successful candidates will be based in one of GAIN’s country offices and must have the existing right to live and work within a reasonably commutable distance of the relevant city / cities in which the role is advertised.
