Job description Executive Manager Picture this: you're at the helm of digital transformation in a dynamic research and innovation environment, turning cutting-edge tech into real-world breakthroughs that shape South Africa's knowledge future. This 5-year contract role puts you in charge as the delegated Information Officer, blending strategic vision with hands-on leadership to make information a powerhouse asset.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

Dive into the heart of digital evolution by spearheading the conceptualisation, rollout, and day-to-day magic of digital solutions that fuel the bigger transformation picture.

Craft, launch, and keep the ICT strategy humming as the backbone of organisational goals – it's a statutory must-do that keeps everything aligned and ahead of the curve.

Spark lively chats with global players like OA2020, MPDL, Plan S, and cOAlition S on hot topics such as fair article processing costs, smart research assessments, and fresh incentives.

Team up with South African policy makers pushing Open Science and Open Access forward.

Champion continental projects via AOSP and SGCIs, building a rock-solid African Open Science platform by linking arms with key network pros like TENET and SANReN.

Bring departmental plans to life through smart delegation and team empowerment.

Refresh information management policies to lock in best practices, safeguarding data like the strategic gold it is.

Step up as Information Officer under POPIA and PAIA, handling compliance with sharp precision.

Dream up and deliver tech infrastructure that nails organisation-wide knowledge needs.

Overhaul the Records and Information management strategy to sync with NARSSA and the National Heritage Resources Act.

Champion tech standardisation for slick, efficient systems that back the ICT vision and organisational wins.

Fuse ICT and info strategies organisation-wide, crafting smart, integrated tools for digital leaps.

Nurture vital partnerships to propel the mandate sky-high.

KEY REQUIREMENTS

Bring a Master's in ICT or a related field (NQF 9) to the table, plus bonus points for certs like CISM, CISSP, CDMP, or CDPSE. You'll need 10 years in ICT and info management, including 5 years leading tech teams, with solid chops in Business Continuity and Cyber Security.

Proven track record in strategy crafting and rollout, business planning, tech leadership, and strategic management.

Skills in HR and talent management, change leadership, risk handling, policy building, stakeholder wrangling, advanced project delivery, financial savvy, and top-notch negotiation.

Standout interpersonal flair, problem-cracking prowess, presentation polish, written wizardry, customer focus, and analytical muscle – both numbers and insights.

Deep know-how of SA's Higher Education and National System of Innovation, plus industry gold standards like POPI Act, GDPR, PFMA, King V, and Companies Act.

Grip on labour laws, protecting knowledge as a core asset, ERP rollouts, and designing bespoke digital systems that drive transformation.
