For every child, the right to a fair chance The Mali Country Office operates in a complex environment shaped by insecurity, inter-communal conflict, socio-political instability, climate shocks, and lingering effects of COVID-19—impacting over 12.9 million people. Despite these challenges, the office remains committed to promoting child rights and well-being through effective programs and strong partnerships. Governance is semi-presidential with ongoing decentralization efforts, though implementation is uneven. Gender disparities persist, especially affecting women and girls. However, recent infrastructure reforms and renewed climate action offer potential for sustainable development and poverty reduction. The office continues to deliver impactful results across sectors. UNICEF Mali has 6 zonal offices and a central office that ensure regular implementation and monitoring of the cooperation program. Through its offices, UNICEF ensures proximity to populations in need and fosters accountability to these populations. How can you make a difference? In Mali, children face a variety and multiple forms of abuse, violence and exploitation, including those who are on the move and affected by the crisis. The humanitarian crisis that Mali has experienced since 2012 further impacted the lives of children and their families. Families and children, including unaccompanied children, continue to move for safety reasons, or for (temporary) work opportunities or for transit purposes. As a result, children face family separation, exploitation, child labor, recruitment into armed groups, trafficking, smuggling, sexual violence, and a lack of basic services, while existing child protection concerns have further exacerbated. Children are exposed to these multiple vulnerabilities and risks in an extremely weak protective environment where basic social welfare services are weak and traditional community-based child protection mechanisms have been disrupted. Under the supervision of the Chief Child Protection, the Information Management (IM) Specialist will provide technical support to ensure that up-to-date information necessary for effective child protection programming and coordination is collected, used, stored and shared in line with relevant standards and national guidelines. The IM will support the Child Protection section to make informed, evidence based strategic and programmatic decisions based on the collected and analyzed information on the scale/scope and coverage of child protection programs at commune, zonal, regional levels and the needs of the affected people.
