CHALIMBANA UNIVERSITY — RECRUITMENT NOTICE Chalimbana University invites applications from suitably qualified, experienced, innovative, and results-oriented candidates to fill the position of Internal Auditor . Reports to: Senior Internal Auditor Department: Internal Audit Department Role Overview The Internal Auditor carries out audit assignments in the Internal Audit Department to provide independent assurance on the University’s internal controls, risk management, compliance, and governance processes. Job Purpose Responsible for carrying out audit assignments under the direction of the Senior Internal Auditor at Chalimbana University. Key Responsibilities Participates in the preparation of the departmental work plan. Participates in the preparation and review of work manuals, procedures, and related documentation. Inspects and verifies negotiable securities and accounts receivables and payables. Examines cancelled cheques and receipts for cash payments and purchases. Inspects assets of the University to ensure that they are promptly recorded, accounted for, and adequately safeguarded against risk and misappropriation. Reviews University’s compliance to its own statutes and other related statutes. Reviews compliance to financial and academic rules, regulations, and procedures. Checks that the University addresses the internal control environment of automated information processing systems. Participates in the preparation and review of departmental annual budgets. Participates in the preparation and review of quarterly and annual operational performance reports. Qualifications and Experience Grade 12 certificate or its equivalent. Bachelor’s Degree in Accountancy or CIA or CISA or ACCA or CIMA or ZICA (CA Zambia) Level II. Minimum of three (3) years of relevant work experience. Membership with the Zambia Institute of Chartered Accountants (ZICA) or Membership with the Institute of Internal Auditors Zambia (IIA Zambia) or global IIA. Experience in a university, public institution, or large complex organisation will be an added advantage. Key Competencies and Personal Attributes Sound knowledge of International Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing, accounting standards, and public financial management. Ability to plan and execute audit assignments and exercise sound professional judgement within ethical limits. Strong analytical and numerical skills, including the ability to analyse financial and statistical data. Ability to make rational, critical, and ethical decisions. Good report writing and communication skills. High level of integrity, independence, objectivity, and confidentiality. Proficiency in computer applications, accounting packages, and computer-assisted audit tools. Terms of Appointment and Remuneration The appointment shall be based on the University appointment guidelines, subject to a probationary period of three (3) months and satisfactory performance during the probationary period, as well as the University’s operational requirements.
