Vacancy: Lodge Manager — Elite Lodge, Blantyre Elite Lodge is a premium executive lodge in Blantyre, Malawi, providing high-quality accommodation, dining, and personalized service to corporate clients, executives, conference delegates, and discerning travellers. We are seeking an experienced, mature, hands-on Lodge Manager to provide day-to-day operational leadership and uphold the Lodge’s standards of excellence. Position Overview The Lodge Manager will be responsible for the smooth running of the Lodge, ensuring exceptional guest experiences, effective staff management, sound financial control, and achievement of occupancy and revenue targets. The successful candidate will lead a team of employees across front office, housekeeping, restaurant, and security. Key Responsibilities Manage daily lodge operations, ensuring high standards of cleanliness, comfort, safety, and guest service. Lead, motivate, schedule, train, and performance-manage staff across all departments. Ensure excellent guest relations, prompt complaint resolution, and strong repeat-business performance. Manage budgets, procurement, stock control, payroll inputs, utilities, and operating costs. Monitor occupancy, room rates, revenue, and profitability; recommend pricing and promotional strategies. Develop and retain corporate clients, conference organisers, travel bookers, and repeat executive guests. Maintain and improve standard operating procedures, quality inspections, health and safety, and security protocols. Coordinate maintenance, repairs, suppliers, and service providers. Prepare operational and financial reports for management/ownership. Handle emergencies, incidents, and service-recovery situations calmly and professionally. Qualifications and Experience Diploma or degree in Hospitality Management, Tourism, Business Administration, or a related field. At least 3–5 years’ managerial experience in a hotel, lodge, resort, guest house, or similar hospitality establishment. Mature individual, above 35 years old Proven experience managing staff, budgets, guest services, and daily operations. Strong knowledge of front office, housekeeping, food and beverage, and maintenance coordination. Excellent leadership, communication, customer-service, problem-solving, and organisational skills. Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays. Computer literacy, including MS Office and property-management or booking systems. Knowledge of the Blantyre corporate, conference, and hospitality market will be an advantage. Personal Attributes Professional, presentable, and guest-focused. Calm under pressure with sound decision-making skills. Hands-on, approachable, and able to motivate a small multidisciplinary team. High levels of integrity, confidentiality, and accountability.
