Beetle Heritage is recruiting: (01) Mathematics Teacher Location: Douala Missions / Responsibilities / Activities
Job purpose The Maths / Additional Mathematics Teacher is responsible for delivering high-quality teaching and learning in Mathematics and Additional Mathematics in accordance with the Cambridge International Curriculum and the school's educational philosophy. The teacher will foster academic excellence, critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and a passion for mathematics while promoting the holistic development, wellbeing, and safeguarding of all students. The role requires active participation in curriculum development, assessment, student support, school improvement initiatives, and the promotion of The Bridge International School's vision, mission, core values, and British Values. Key responsibilities Teaching and Learning The teacher shall: Deliver engaging, challenging, and differentiated Mathematics and Additional Mathematics lessons in accordance with the Cambridge curriculum and school schemes of work. Plan, prepare, and implement effective lesson plans, learning activities, and teaching resources. Develop students' mathematical reasoning, analytical thinking, problem-solving, and investigative skills. Promote independent learning and encourage students to become reflective learners. Adapt teaching methods to meet the needs of students of different abilities, learning styles, and educational needs. Integrate real-world applications and cross-curricular links into lessons where appropriate. Create a positive, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment that encourages active participation and academic excellence. Promote a safe, respectful, and inclusive classroom environment. Manage classroom resources effectively. Safeguarding and Child Protection The teacher shall: Uphold and comply with all safeguarding and child protection policies and procedures. Promote the safety, welfare, and wellbeing of all students. Report safeguarding concerns promptly and appropriately. Contribute to creating a safe and secure environment where children feel valued and protected. Communication and Partnership The teacher shall: Maintain effective communication with students, parents, and colleagues. Attend parent-teacher meetings, consultations, and school events. Communicate student progress, achievements, and concerns professionally and promptly. Collaborate effectively with colleagues to support student learning and school improvement. Professional Development The teacher shall: Participate actively in Continuous Professional Development (CPD) activities. Engage in professional reflection and self-improvement. Stay informed about developments in Mathematics education and Cambridge program. Share best practices and contribute to professional learning communities within the school. Contribution to School Life The teacher shall: Participate in school events, educational visits, competitions, and extracurricular activities. Support school improvement initiatives and Strategic objectives. Attend staff meetings, departmental meetings, and training sessions. Contribute positively to the overall life and culture of the school. Technology Integration The teacher shall: Effectively use technology to enhance teaching and learning. Utilize educational platforms, interactive technologies, and digital assessment tools. Demonstrate proficiency in Google Workspace for Education, initiative and problem-solving skills, accountability and reliability, emotional intelligence and empathy, commitment to continuous improvement. Performance Indicators Performance shall be assessed through: Student academic progress and achievement. Quality of teaching and lesson delivery. Classroom observation outcomes. Examination results. Compliance with school policies and procedures. Contribution to school life and extracurricular programmes. Professional conduct and teamwork. Timely completion of reports, assessments, and administrative duties. Participation in professional development activities. Job Requirements
