About ICIMOD

Autres informations

The Hindu Kush Himalaya (HKH) region stretches 3,500km across Asia, spanning eight countries – Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, China, India, Myanmar, Nepal, and Pakistan. Encompassing high-altitude mountain ranges, mid-hills, and plains, the zone is vital for the food, water, and energy security of up to two billion people and is a habitat for countless irreplaceable species. It is also acutely fragile and vulnerable to the impacts of the triple planetary crisis of climate change, pollution, and biodiversity loss. The International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD), based in Kathmandu, Nepal, is an international knowledge organisation focused on the HKH region, working since 1983 to deliver greener, more inclusive, and climate-resilient development. Our work is guided by our Strategy 2030 , Medium-Term Action Plan V (2023–2026) and the associated Results Framework, and our various policies . Learn more on our website . About our approach to climate and green finance Identifying new climate and development financeflows is an important priority for HKH countries, given the dearth of green investment and the enormous financing gap for climate adaptation, mitigation and nature. Without new and additional finance, HKH countries will not be able to meet their climate adaptation, biodiversity and mitigation goals. ‘Enabling climate-resilient and green investment’ is one of the pillars of ICIMOD’s Strategy 2030. ICIMOD, as a regional institution, is drawing on its convening power and knowledge to help catalyse investment, including by: (i) identifying and developing solutions and collectively developing these into business cases, (ii) playing a role in assisting HKH countries to access global funds (iii) facilitating investment in the private sector, or through public-private partnerships, and (iv) convening investors and investment experts to explore innovative ways to finance solutions and focus the investment conversation on HKH mountain priorities. ICIMOD also plays a role in advocating for HKH priorities in global and regional policy and investment fora. Position overview

Expert Application Advice

Always tailor your CV to mirror the exact language used in the job posting. For example, if NGO lists "les compétences demandées dans l'annonce" as critical, ensure this phrase appears prominently in your experience summary. This shows you've carefully read their needs and are a direct match.

International NGO — NGO recruiters read your cover letter to assess your understanding of the humanitarian mission, not just technical skills. Show you know the country field context and the specific challenges of this sector.

Software and standards — Specify your actual accounting tools and standards knowledge. Finance technical tests often cover reconciliation cases or variance analysis — practice these with real examples.

  • Never pay any amount of money — for a file, a training, a uniform, or an interview. A real employer never asks the candidate to pay.
  • Never send a photo of your ID card, passport, or banking details before you have physically verified the employer exists.
  • Always meet in a public place, during the day — never an isolated address, a private home, or a location you cannot verify in advance.
  • Tell a relative or friend exactly where you are going, with whom, and at what time — and share your live location if possible.
  • Search the company name online before going: a real business has a trace (website, reviews, other employees, an official address).
  • A salary that is far above the market rate for the position and the city is a red flag — be extra cautious.
