Nairobi Waldorf School, established in 1998 with its first Steiner-Waldorf Kindergarten in a small house along Magadi Road on the outskirts of Nairobi, is seeking passionate educators to join its team. The school, which later moved to Mbagathi and expanded to include a first-grade primary class, continues to thrive. We are currently hiring for two positions: a part-time Pianist and a full-time Ceramics Teacher.
Pianist (Part-time)
Job Type: Part Time | Qualification: BA/BSc/HND | Job Field: Education / Teaching / Training
Responsibilities:
Playing a wide musical range - folk melodies, classical pieces, and simple accompaniments suited to different ages. Improvise and accompany eurythmy movement sensitively and responsively. Work closely with eurythmy teachers and be part of a child's daily rhythm.
Profile:
Learning eurythmy's musical requirements if not already familiar. Punctuality and a warm rapport with children.
Requirements:
A pianist with strong improvisational skill and the ability to follow and support movement in real time. Ideally, some familiarity with Waldorf education or eurythmy (training can be provided). A varied musical vocabulary suited to different ages and moods. Reliability, warmth, and enjoyment working with children.
Ceramics Teacher
Job Type: Full Time | Qualification: BA/BSc/HND | Location: Nairobi | Job Field: Education / Teaching / Training
Responsibilities:
Plan and deliver age-appropriate ceramics lessons for students aged 13-16. Maintain a safe, clean, and organized art studio and kiln area. Prepare lesson plans and manage material inventory (clay, glazes, tools). Showcase student artwork for school exhibitions and events.
Requirements:
Valid registration with the Teachers Service Commission (TSC). Demonstrated competence across all aspects of craft ceramic work, including hand-building, wheel-throwing, glazing, and kiln firing. A patient, encouraging teaching style suited to a Waldorf pedagogical environment. Prior experience teaching ceramics in a school setting is preferred.
