NGO Striving For All is looking for Girls in tech Instructor Position: Girls in Tech Instructor
We are looking for a motivated and engaging Female Girls in Tech Instructor to lead and mentor girls aged 11 to 18 as part of our Girls in Tech program. The program prepares participants for the Technovation Girls Competition by building skills in programming, mobile app development, problem-solving, design thinking, entrepreneurship, teamwork, confidence, and presentation. The Instructor will guide participants through the full project journey, from identifying a real-world problem to designing a solution, developing a mobile application using MIT App Inventor, creating a basic business model, and preparing a final competition pitch. Key Responsibilities
- Deliver training sessions based on the Technovation Girls curriculum;
- Teach programming fundamentals and mobile app development using MIT App Inventor;
- Guide participants in problem identification, research, design thinking, and solution development;
- Support students in developing, testing, debugging, and improving their mobile applications;
- Introduce basic entrepreneurship concepts, including target users, value proposition, business models, and sustainability;
- Introduce basic Artificial Intelligence concepts where relevant to the Technovation curriculum;
- Help participants develop teamwork, collaboration, communication, leadership, and confidence;
- Mentor teams throughout the development of their Technovation projects;

- Support teams in preparing their project documentation, presentations, pitch, and competition submission;
- Track participant progress and communicate challenges or support needs to the program coordinator;
- Maintain a safe, respectful, inclusive, and encouraging learning environment;
- Follow all organizational safeguarding and child-protection policies.
Formation / Diplômes
- At least a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or an equivalent qualification;
- Strong understanding of programming fundamentals;
- Comfortable with mobile application development concepts;
- Ability and willingness to teach using MIT App Inventor;
- Familiarity with problem-solving and design-thinking approaches;
- Basic understanding of entrepreneurship concepts;
- Strong communication, facilitation, and presentation skills;
- Ability to work effectively with girls between 11 and 18 years old;
- Strong teamwork, mentoring, and interpersonal skills;
- Patience, adaptability, and the ability to explain technical concepts in a simple and engaging way;
- Professional-level English proficiency. Preferred Qualifications
Expérience
- Previous experience teaching, mentoring, or training children or teenagers;
- Experience with MIT App Inventor or another block-based programming platform;
- Familiarity with Artificial Intelligence concepts;
- Experience in entrepreneurship, innovation, or project-based learning;
- Experience working in STEM, nonprofit, education, or youth-development programs. Contract: Onsite
Localisation
Location: Carrefour Messapresse, Bonanjo, Douala. Curriculum Resources The Instructor will use the official Technovation Girls resources, including:
- Senior Division Curriculum;
- AI in Action Curriculum. The Instructor is expected to review the curriculum in advance and prepare appropriately for each session. Contract and Compensation This is a contract position for the duration of the Girls in Tech training and Technovation preparation period.
