Cosmos Limited, the most reputable pharmaceutical manufacturer in east and central Africa, is seeking a highly motivated and results-driven Accountant - Credit Control to join our Finance team. The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing the company's credit control policy, managing debtor accounts, coordinating debt collection activities, and ensuring timely recovery of outstanding payments to support healthy cash flow and achieve debtors' targets.
Key responsibilities include vetting and assessing credit applications in line with the company credit control policy, setting and maintaining approved customer credit limits within the system, reconciling debtor accounts and issuing customer statements on time, monitoring customer account performance and following up on overdue accounts, generating credit control and debtors' reports for management review, negotiating repayment plans and supporting debt recovery initiatives, and liaising with sales teams and external debt recovery service providers.
We are looking for a candidate with a Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Commerce, or a related field, a CPA (K) or equivalent professional accounting qualification, and a minimum of 5 years' experience in Credit Control, Accounts Receivable, or a similar role. Strong knowledge of credit management, debt collection, and account reconciliation is essential. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and proficiency in accounting software such as Sage are required. Excellent analytical, communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills are also necessary.
The ideal candidate will possess a high level of integrity and professionalism, strong interpersonal and relationship management skills, be detail-oriented with excellent numerical and analytical abilities, be proactive and results-driven, and have the ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
