CIVIL ENGINEER The civil engineer will develop and implement rehabilitation plans, design structural solutions, and manage the repair, restoration, and modernization of existing infrastructure, including buildings and facilities. Key Responsibilities Condition Assessments: Conduct thorough assessments of deteriorating or compromised structures to detect structural flaws, material deterioration, and required upkeep. Rehabilitation Design: Create cost-efficient repair strategies and retrofitting plans, developing detailed technical drawings with software such as AutoCAD. Cost Estimation & BoQs: Compile comprehensive bills of quantities (Boys), material estimates, and project cost forecasts in meticulous detail. Site Supervision: To oversee repair work in progress, ensuring adherence to engineering standards, safety regulations, and project deadlines. Quality Control: Evaluate retrofitting materials—including concrete strength and steel integrity—to ensure they comply with established safety standards. Stakeholder Coordination: Partner with contractors, municipal entities, and clients to oversee project implementation and address on-site obstacles. Qualifications & Requirements Education: A Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a closely related discipline is required. Experience: 3 to 8+ years of hands-on experience in infrastructure restoration, construction oversight, or project management. Technical Skills: Proficient in utilizing CAD tools, performing structural analysis, writing technical reports, and interpreting as-built drawings. Regulatory Knowledge: Proficient in adhering to local building codes, health and safety regulations, and environmental compliance standards. Credentials: Professional registration with a recognized regulatory authority, such as the Engineering Institution of Zambia, is required for local practice.
