The Association for the Physically Disabled of Kenya (APDK) is a national leader in disability inclusion, rehabilitation, and advocacy. Established in 1958, APDK has been instrumental in promoting dignity, independence, and equal opportunity for persons with disabilities in Kenya.

We are seeking a Procurement Manager to join our National Office team. The role will oversee the end-to-end supply chain, vendor negotiations, and procurement compliance while ensuring value for money across the organisation.

Job Type: Full Time

Qualification: BA/BSc/HND

Location: Procurement / Store-keeping / Supply Chain

Profile:

Degree in Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field. KISM or CIPS membership is an added advantage. Experience working in an NGO or donor-funded environment is preferred.

Required Skills:

Strong negotiation and vendor management skills. Sound judgement and strong ethical standards. Strong understanding of procurement compliance and supply chain processes.

The Procurement Manager will report directly to the CEO and play a key role in strengthening APDK’s procurement and supply-chain systems nationwide.

Expert Application Advice

For senior roles at The Association for the Physically Disabled of Kenya (APDK), don’t just list your years in logistics—show how you’ve solved challenges like CIPS. Use a brief example of a past win that mirrors their need. This proves you’re ready to deliver, not just qualified.

Positioning — Your cover letter must answer one question: why YOU for THIS specific role right NOW? Avoid generic templates — one sentence on what you specifically bring beats three generic paragraphs.

Supply chain performance — On-time delivery rates, storage cost reduction, stock rotation: quantify every improvement. A CIPS or APICS certification, even partial, is a major differentiator in Africa.

  • Never pay any amount of money — for a file, a training, a uniform, or an interview. A real employer never asks the candidate to pay.
  • Never send a photo of your ID card, passport, or banking details before you have physically verified the employer exists.
  • Always meet in a public place, during the day — never an isolated address, a private home, or a location you cannot verify in advance.
  • Tell a relative or friend exactly where you are going, with whom, and at what time — and share your live location if possible.
  • Search the company name online before going: a real business has a trace (website, reviews, other employees, an official address).
  • A salary that is far above the market rate for the position and the city is a red flag — be extra cautious.
