Plan International started working in Egypt in 1981 and has a presence in ten of the 27 governorates in which the country including Greater Cairo, Alexandria, Giza, Beheira, Kalyoubia, Damietta, Qena, Assuit and Sohag. Plan international Egypt implements programmes designed to enable communities to improve the lives of the most marginalised children and their families. Plan Egypt’s Country Strategy focuses on five strategic objectives.

Through a five-interconnected, gender transformative and context-fit country objectives, PIE intends along with the various stakeholders at all levels to continue delivering positive and transformative changes so that “Children, especially girls, and young people grow up in an enabling environment, realizing their rights and contributing in both development and humanitarian settings as active agents of change”.

THE OPPORTUNITY

Plan International Egypt is implementing the Towards an Empowering Future Project in the governorates of Aswan and Qena from July 2022 to June 2027 . The project aims to empower adolescent girls, young women, and youth in Upper Egypt by enhancing their economic and social capabilities, increasing access to entrepreneurship and self-employment opportunities, and promoting their active participation in decisions affecting their lives.

The project addresses key gender-related challenges, including harmful practices such as child marriage and female genital mutilation (FGM), through community awareness, social mobilization, and youth-led initiatives. It engages parents, community and religious leaders, civil society organizations, and government stakeholders to promote positive social norms, gender equality, and the meaningful participation of young women in economic and community development.

In addition, the project strengthens the capacities of local civil society organizations, government institutions, and community structures to create a more protective, gender-responsive, and inclusive environment. Through leadership development, life skills, and economic empowerment interventions, the project supports young women and men to become economically self-reliant and active champions of change within their communities.

Project Goal

Young women and men improve their economic self-reliance and become empowered champions of change capable of challenging gender inequality within an increasingly protective and enabling environment.

Project Objectives

• 1. Strengthen the skills and capacities of young women and men and improve their access to self-employment and entrepreneurship opportunities.
• 2. Enhance the leadership skills of young women and men to promote gender equality, challenge discriminatory social norms, and support their peers in advocating for the rights and empowerment of women and girls.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Support the coordination and follow-up of capacity-building activities with partner CBOs across targeted governorates, in line with project objectives and implementation plans.

Conduct regular field visits to partner CBOs and community-level interventions to monitor progress, provide technical support, and identify gaps and operational challenges.

Organize and facilitate reflection sessions with partners and stakeholders to gather feedback, assess progress, and document lessons learned and implementation challenges.

Coordinate with consultants and service providers to support assessments, training delivery, and the development and follow-up of improvement plans tailored to partners’ needs.

Support the organization and delivery of social entrepreneurship and livelihood training programmes, including mentorship and coaching activities to strengthen beneficiaries’ business development skills.

Ensure effective logistical, administrative, and coordination arrangements for all project activities, including venues, materials, participant coordination, and documentation.

Collect, analyses, and consolidate data and feedback from field activities, trainings, and partner engagements to support adaptive management and continuous improvement.

Contribute to project monitoring and reporting processes, including preparing inputs for internal reports and donor communications.

What we are looking for:

Qualifications/ experience essential:

Qualifications

A bachelor degree in Social Sciences, Development Studies or similar field.

• 3-5 years of experience with a proven record of success at a similar level preferably in an INGO sector.

Experience working with government entities, civil society organizations on livelihoods, economic empowerment, or community development projects

Experience in planning, conducting, and facilitating trainings/workshops.

Strong understanding of the socio-economic and governance context in Egypt, particularly challenges faced by vulnerable and marginalized groups.

Demonstrated ability to coordinate, and deliver participatory training and learning programmes.

Proven skills in documentation, reporting, and analysis of lessons learned, good practices, and project outcomes.

Knowledge:

Advanced understanding of the development needs and their vulnerability of our Primary Impact Groups from birth to adulthood, the root causes of the issues affecting them, and the key actors most relevant to their interests and therefore to our work

Knowledge on gender transformative approaches, working in partnership, evidence-based approaches, and working to strengthen civil society.

Skills

Providing clear direction and support to team members.

Using on-going monitoring and assessment, working closely with project teams to improve the quality of implementation.

Interpreting and contextualising data, assesses results and draws conclusions to inform initiatives and clearly communicating the results of evaluation and lessons learned as appropriate.

Numeracy and the ability to interpret financial data, in order to provide management support to budgetary processes including planning, monitoring and reporting.

Ability to interact and work effectively with others at all levels.

Good analytical and administrative skills.

Strong skills in facilitation, negotiation, and problem-solving.
