Relief International, an international non-profit organization, is recruiting a Medical Coordinator to join its Programs team in Sudan. This is an international position based in Tawila, North Darfur (Chad cross-border operation), with travel to other locations in North Darfur as security conditions allow. The role will initially be a short-term position (less than 6 months).

Relief International partners with communities impacted by conflict, climate change, and disaster to save lives, build greater resilience, and promote long-term health and wellbeing. We work in countries across Africa, Asia, and the Middle East, providing Health and Nutrition, WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene), Education, and Livelihoods programming that creates the foundation for community resilience.

In North Darfur, Relief International is delivering lifesaving health services through secondary healthcare facilities, primary healthcare centres, and community-based interventions. In collaboration with partners and the State Ministry of Health, RI provides paediatric services, emergency maternal healthcare, nutrition support, and integrated primary healthcare for conflict-affected communities.

The Medical Coordinator will provide overall technical and clinical leadership for paediatric and medical services within RI-supported health facilities in North Darfur. The role combines direct clinical care with strategic oversight, quality assurance, mentoring, and health systems strengthening. Working closely with Ministry of Health counterparts, programme teams, and health partners, you will play a key role in ensuring safe, effective, and accountable health services while strengthening the capacity of national healthcare staff.

Your Responsibilities

This role includes the following responsibilities:

Provide overall technical leadership and oversight of paediatric and medical services across RI-supported secondary and primary healthcare facilities.

Deliver and supervise high-quality paediatric clinical care, including emergency case management, inpatient services, stabilization of severe cases, and referral coordination.

Mentor, coach, and build the capacity of doctors, nurses, and clinical teams through supportive supervision, bedside training, and quality improvement initiatives.

Lead clinical quality assurance processes, including audits, morbidity and mortality reviews, infection prevention measures, and patient safety improvements.

Strengthen coordination with government authorities, health partners, referral facilities, and humanitarian stakeholders to improve service quality and continuity of care.

About You

You will bring the following experience and skills:

Medical Doctor (MD) with a postgraduate qualification in Paediatrics, Internal Medicine, Tropical Medicine, or another relevant clinical specialty.

Substantial proven experience providing paediatric clinical care, emergency case management, and inpatient services in humanitarian, development, or public health settings.

Strong experience in clinical supervision, mentorship, capacity building, and quality improvement of healthcare professionals.

Sound knowledge of WHO guidelines, humanitarian health standards, clinical protocols, and integrated healthcare programming.

Experience working with government health authorities, NGOs, UN agencies, and health-sector coordination mechanisms.

Strong leadership, data analysis, communication, report-writing, and stakeholder management skills.

Fluency in written and spoken English is essential. Experience in Sudan or similar humanitarian contexts, health systems strengthening, donor-funded programmes, and Arabic language skills are desirable.

  • Never pay any amount of money — for a file, a training, a uniform, or an interview. A real employer never asks the candidate to pay.
  • Never send a photo of your ID card, passport, or banking details before you have physically verified the employer exists.
  • Always meet in a public place, during the day — never an isolated address, a private home, or a location you cannot verify in advance.
  • Tell a relative or friend exactly where you are going, with whom, and at what time — and share your live location if possible.
  • Search the company name online before going: a real business has a trace (website, reviews, other employees, an official address).
  • A salary that is far above the market rate for the position and the city is a red flag — be extra cautious.
