About the Project In 2021, GGG, in partnership with Freetown City Council (FCC) and Water-Share Ireland (WSI), established Sierra Leone’s first liquid waste treatment plant - the Kingtom Faecal Sludge Treatment Plant (FSTP). This pilot plant, which was funded by the UK government is located in the centre of the Freetown metropolitan area, and currently processes approximately 21% of the city’s collected liquid waste, using an innovative geobag technology, which is the first of its kind in Africa.
