Wagagai Mining (U) Limited, Uganda's pioneer fully automated large-scale gold mining operation, is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Senior Chemical Engineer – Mineral Processing. The company operates a 5,000-tonne-per-day concentrator, a 350-tonne-per-day kyanization plant, a fully automated underground mine, and a gold smelting and refining facility, and is based in Busia.
Mineral Processing Engineers design, develop, and optimize processes for extracting and refining minerals from ores. They evaluate mineral properties, select appropriate processing methods, and ensure efficient separation and purification of valuable materials. These engineers oversee equipment operation, troubleshoot processing issues, and implement safety and environmental regulations in compliance with industry standards. They collaborate with geologists, metallurgists, and other professionals to enhance recovery rates and minimize waste. Proficiency in process simulation software, strong analytical skills, and a deep understanding of mineralogy and chemical engineering principles are essential. Analyze mineral processing data to extract meaningful insights and identify trends that can enhance operational efficiency and productivity.
