Job purpose The Community Service Assistant (CSA) role is predominantly a field-based position, serving as a critical liaison between In-Line Chlorination (ILC) systems and the communities they support. The incumbent is responsible for guaranteeing an adequate and consistent supply of chlorine, as well as overseeing the proper service and maintenance of installed ILC devices. These efforts directly contribute to community access to safe water, thereby enhancing livelihoods by minimizing the prevalence of waterborne illnesses. Duties are supervised by the Lead Field Officer or Associate Coordinator of the International Land Coalition (ILC). There are no direct reports for this position. Duties and responsibilities include performing a range of tasks to ensure the smooth operation of daily activities, addressing operational challenges as they arise, and collaborating with team members to achieve organizational objectives. Responsibilities encompass overseeing assigned projects from inception to completion, monitoring progress, and implementing necessary adjustments to meet deadlines and quality standards. Additionally, the role requires engaging in regular communication with stakeholders to provide updates, gather feedback, and align efforts with broader business goals. The position may also involve managing resources efficiently, resolving conflicts, and maintaining documentation to track performance and compliance. Perform routine inspections and maintenance on ILC device hardware to ensure optimal operational performance and reliability. Delivers chlorine and replenishes ILC devices at designated program water stations as directed. Responsibilities include monitoring chlorine concentrations and calibrating ILC devices to maintain optimal chlorine levels with the aid of chlorine testing equipment. To operate and maintain ILC devices situated on elevated storage tank platforms, personnel must calibrate dosing mechanisms and replenish chlorine supplies as needed. Ensure the secure handling and meticulous management of chlorine and ILC device inventory across store, office, and designated site locations. Ensures meticulous record-keeping by accurately completing all necessary forms, documents, and records essential for effective inventory tracking. Engage the target community and promoter volunteers to drive adoption of the ILC device, address any challenges that arise, and promptly report progress to the supervisor. Gather field data for program evaluation and accountability purposes, utilizing smartphones to ensure comprehensive and timely collection. Demonstrating unwavering professional integrity and responsible management of the organization’s assets and program field materials, ensuring their proper use and safeguarding throughout all work-related activities. Measuring success through quantifiable benchmarks and performance metrics is essential to this role. Tracking and evaluating progress against defined targets will drive accountability and inform strategic decisions. This includes navigating rural and sometimes challenging terrains while transporting chlorine loads via motorcycle for delivery to designated recipients. Physical demands for this role include the ability to lift and transport objects weighing up to 30 pounds on a regular basis, often involving repetitive motions such as bending, reaching, or squatting. Candidates must possess sufficient strength and stamina to stand for extended periods, typically six to eight hours per shift, while maintaining focus and productivity in a fast-paced environment. The position may require occasional climbing, balancing, or working in confined spaces, as well as the dexterity to operate hand tools, machinery, or other equipment with precision. Clear communication and the ability to follow detailed instructions are essential to ensure safety and efficiency in all tasks performed. This role necessitates the capability to operate a motorcycle. This role necessitates proficiency and confidence in ascending ladders and gaining entry to elevated water storage tanks. Position Location The position is primarily situated in Eastern Uganda, specifically within Male and its neighboring districts.
