Responsibilities include managing the complete clearance process for import, export, transit, bonded, warehousing, and duty-exempt cargo via URA customs systems. Review customs declarations to verify compliance with URA standards, the East African Community Customs Management Act (EAC CMA), established customs procedures, and relevant legal frameworks before granting approval. Manage and resolve all URA and customs-related issues, such as inquiries, rejected or blocked entries, tax assessments, audits, disputes, and compliance matters. Oversee customs bonds, transit guarantees, accountabilities, and associated documentation to ensure compliance and accuracy. Develop and sustain productive partnerships with URA, additional regulatory bodies, clients, and essential stakeholders. Responsibilities include assigning departmental tasks, tracking productivity metrics, performing performance evaluations, and determining staff training and development requirements. Maintain meticulous and compliant records for declarations, taxes, customs correspondence, approvals, and other required regulatory documentation. Deliver prompt client updates regarding cargo status, customs prerequisites, and clearance milestones.
