Learn more about our Vision, purpose, values – AngloGold Ashanti POSITION Engineer 1 – Open Pit Planning DEPARTMENT Technical Service LOCATION Geita Gold Mine Tanzania EMPLOYMENT STATUS Full Time OBJECTIVE OF THE ROLE Provide ongoing technical assistance to the production team to verify adherence to established mining plans. To ensure compliance with design specifications, oversee the progress of pits, waste dumps, and other construction projects, while fostering clear and consistent communication with mining and project execution teams.
Perform short-term planning design checks, planning modifications, and production analysis updates using Vulcan or Data mine. Collaborate with geology, mining production, geotechnical, and engineering teams to gather and consolidate planning inputs essential for achieving production plan objectives. Monitor stock levels, equipment efficiency, utilization rates, and key operational expenses to identify any deficiencies or areas of concern. Proactively assess performance data to pinpoint potential risks and uncover opportunities for improvement, ensuring timely communication of findings to relevant stakeholders. ROLE REQUIREMENTS Education & Qualification A tertiary qualification in either Mining or Civil Engineering is required. Graduated as a Mining Engineer and hold valid registration with the Engineers Registration Board (ERA).
Valid Tanzania Driving Licence. Experience With a minimum of three years of hands-on experience in the mining sector, ideally within open-pit operations, you bring proven expertise to this role. Requires a minimum of one year of practical training experience in various mine departments, including geology, surveying, long-term planning, production, and drill and blast operations. Experienced in short-term planning within a mechanized open-pit mining operation. Knowledge & Skills Seekers of this opportunity must possess hands-on proficiency with Vulcan, Datamine, SPRY, Rapid Reserver, or comparable mining software solutions. Proficient in utilizing spreadsheet applications and database management systems is required. Proficiency in both written and spoken English is essential. Demonstrates strong collaboration skills when engaging with technical teams, operational departments, and contractor personnel to achieve shared objectives. Demonstrates the capacity to deliver onsite technical assistance and intervene promptly when operational outcomes deviate from established plans.
