Purpose of the Job
The IT Manager is responsible for planning, implementing, managing, and maintaining the organization’s information technology infrastructure, systems, networks, cybersecurity, and digital solutions. The role ensures reliable IT operations, supports business objectives through technology, and leads initiatives that improve efficiency, security, and innovation across the organization.
Main Accountabilities
Develops and implements the Company’s IT strategy aligned with business goals. Advises management on technology investments and digital transformation initiatives. Establishes and maintains IT policies, procedures, and standards. Ensures compliance with relevant regulations, security requirements, and industry best practices. Manages and maintains servers, networks, internet connectivity, and data centers. Ensures availability and high performance of all IT systems. Monitors and optimizes IT infrastructure to support business operations. Plans and oversees system upgrades, migrations, and technology deployments. Develops and implements cybersecurity frameworks and controls. Monitors systems for security threats and vulnerabilities. Manages antivirus, firewall, endpoint security, and access controls. Leads incident response and disaster recovery planning. Ensures regular data backups and business continuity procedures. Oversees ERP, accounting, HR, email, and business application systems. Manages software licensing and vendor relationships. Ensures system integrations meet operational requirements. Supports automation and digital process improvement initiatives. Manages IT helpdesk and user support functions. Ensures timely resolution of hardware, software, and network issues. Establishes service levels and monitors support performance. Provides end-user training and promotes technology adoption. Leads IT projects from planning through implementation. Manages project budgets, timelines, and stakeholder expectations. Coordinates with external vendors and consultants. Ensures projects deliver measurable business value. Prepares and manages the annual IT budget. Controls IT costs while maintaining service quality. Maintains IT asset inventories and lifecycle management. Evaluates and procures technology solutions and equipment. Supervises and develops IT staff. Conducts performance evaluations and identifies training needs. Fosters a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Knowledge and Skill Requirements
Grade 12 Certificate. Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or equivalent. Minimum of 5 years post qualification experience in a similar role. Member of the ICTAZ. Proficiency in network administration and infrastructure management. Knowledge of cybersecurity and risk management. Cloud computing (Microsoft Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud) is an added advantage. Experience working with business applications and ERP systems and disaster recovery and backup management. Ability to drive a manual motor vehicle.
