As an Assistant Investment Manager, you will provide integral support to the investment team throughout all phases of the investment lifecycle for each of FED’s fund strategies. Your responsibilities will include evaluating potential investments, conducting in-depth financial analysis, contributing to deal structuring and negotiation, performing rigorous due diligence, and tracking portfolio performance, among other duties. Additionally, you will work closely with cross-functional teams to assist in drafting concept papers for pioneering projects. The ideal candidate will demonstrate exceptional analytical capabilities, a deep comprehension of the private equity landscape, and Greenfield investments across Africa, coupled with the capacity to excel in a high-energy, fast-moving setting. Your role will involve assisting the investment team across every stage of the investment process and fund lifecycle, including deal sourcing, evaluating prospective investments or novel initiatives, investment committees, Board or internal presentations, portfolio company oversight, exit strategies, and fundraising activities. You will help the investment manager assess risks, opportunities, and the feasibility of proposed investments or innovative Greenfield projects. Your financial expertise will be crucial in conducting thorough financial analysis, modeling, and valuation to assess potential investment opportunities while monitoring existing portfolio performance. In the deal structuring phase, you will analyze investment terms, prepare term sheets and investment memoranda, and engage in negotiations. You will take the lead in organizing and following up on deal execution meetings to ensure key decisions are implemented. Your due diligence responsibilities will encompass meeting with executive management, analyzing industry trends, competitive dynamics, and financial performance. You will also coordinate with due diligence advisors, review their deliverables, and present findings to FED’s management and investment committees. Furthermore, you will support the Investment Manager in developing, executing, and monitoring value-creation plans, including ESG action plans for portfolio companies. Your responsibilities will extend to monitoring and evaluating portfolio company performance, identifying key performance indicators, and offering strategic recommendations for enhancement. You will prepare and present monthly and quarterly investment reports to FED’s governance bodies, including Executive Management, the Board, and investors. Staying abreast of market trends, regulatory shifts, and economic developments impacting FED will be essential. You will also contribute to fundraising initiatives by creating compelling marketing materials and participating in investor meetings for portfolio companies or FED’s funds. Additional responsibilities may be assigned by management as required. The successful candidate will exhibit strong analytical thinking, financial modeling proficiency, meticulous research and due diligence skills, and an unwavering attention to detail.
