Reporting directly to the Senior Legal Counsel or Managing Partner, the successful candidate will play an integral role in supporting our team of legal professionals. The Legal Intern will engage in comprehensive legal research, draft essential legal documents, and assist in managing case files with the utmost confidentiality. Additional responsibilities include providing support during client consultations, court proceedings, and corporate meetings, as well as handling administrative tasks such as statutory filings and regulatory compliance checks. Key Responsibilities: – Conduct in-depth legal research on statutes, case law, and judicial rulings pertinent to ongoing matters. – Prepare and refine legal documents, including contracts, case summaries, legal opinions, and court submissions. – Maintain and update physical and digital case files while ensuring strict confidentiality. – Assist in client interactions, hearings, and corporate engagements by recording minutes and detailed notes. – Support statutory filings, compliance reviews, and coordination with government agencies. Qualifications: – Enrolled in the final year of a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) program or a recent graduate from a recognized institution. (Completion or enrollment in the Institute of Legal Practice and Development (ILP) is advantageous.) – Demonstrated expertise in legal research, analytical reasoning, and professional writing. – Fluency in both English and Kinyarwanda is required, with proficiency in French considered a valuable asset. – Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and familiar with legal databases. – Exhibits strong ethical integrity, precision, and a proactive approach to learning.
