The Community Engagement Coordinator is responsible for cultivating and nurturing relationships with local stakeholders, organizations, and residents to enhance community involvement and support for organizational initiatives. This region, situated in southwestern Uganda, serves as a vital component of one of Africa’s most celebrated conservation landscapes. Visitors to Sasha are drawn to its famous tree-climbing lions, a rare phenomenon that adds to the area’s allure. The protected area itself spans over 1,978 square kilometers and supports a diverse ecosystem, including elephants, hippos, and numerous bird species. Additionally, Sasha offers opportunities for game drives, nature walks, and cultural encounters with local communities. The position is based within a nonprofit organization or non-governmental entity, where the individual will be responsible for overseeing a range of critical operational and strategic tasks. This role demands a strong commitment to the organization’s mission, as well as the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders, including donors, partners, and community members. Key responsibilities include project management, program development, stakeholder engagement, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations. The ideal candidate will possess relevant experience in nonprofit or NGO work, a deep understanding of social impact initiatives, and exceptional organizational and communication skills to drive meaningful outcomes. This position plays a critical role in implementing policies, monitoring compliance, and fostering partnerships to advance social justice and equity. Duties include conducting assessments, drafting reports, and collaborating with stakeholders to address rights violations and promote inclusive practices. The role requires strong analytical, communication, and project management skills, along with a deep understanding of human rights frameworks and community development. Experienced professionals oversee the recruitment and management of Community Engagement Officer roles within the organization. We are currently seeking a full-time professional to join our dynamic team. This role requires a commitment to a standard full-time work schedule, ensuring consistent availability and dedication to your responsibilities. Scope/Capacity: Travel to and from site locations, including remote areas, is expected as part of this role. The position necessitates regular travel to various sites within Sasha to engage directly with residents. Oversee a range of key responsibilities, including the management of day-to-day operations, ensuring adherence to company policies and industry regulations, and fostering a productive and compliant work environment.
