As an Investment Manager at FEDA, you will spearhead the end-to-end investment process for our Direct Investment Fund strategy, overseeing everything from initial opportunity assessment and financial analysis to deal structuring, negotiation, due diligence, and portfolio performance tracking. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, providing strategic guidance in drafting concept papers for diverse projects. The ideal candidate will exhibit strong analytical acumen, a robust grasp of the private equity landscape, and hands-on experience with direct investments—particularly in Africa—while demonstrating adaptability in a fast-paced, dynamic setting. Key Responsibilities: Lead the investment team through all phases of the investment lifecycle, encompassing deal origination, opportunity evaluation, participation in investment committees and board discussions, portfolio company oversight, exit strategy execution, and fundraising initiatives. Conduct rigorous risk assessments, identify high-potential opportunities, and evaluate the viability of investments or innovative greenfield ventures. Perform detailed financial analysis, modeling, and valuation to assess potential investments and monitor portfolio performance. Oversee deal structuring by analyzing investment terms, drafting term sheets and investment memos, leading negotiations, and coordinating deal execution. Undertake comprehensive due diligence on target companies, engaging with executive leadership, analyzing industry trends, competitive dynamics, and financial health. Coordinate with external due diligence advisors, review their findings, and present actionable insights to FEDA’s management and investment strategy committees. Assess portfolio company performance, track key metrics, and recommend strategic enhancements. Monitor value-creation initiatives, including ESG action plans, for portfolio companies. Prepare and deliver monthly and quarterly investment reports to governance bodies such as Executive Management, the Board, and Investors. Stay abreast of market trends, regulatory shifts, and macroeconomic factors influencing FEDA’s investments. Support fundraising efforts by creating compelling marketing materials and participating in investor meetings for portfolio companies or FEDA’s funds. Qualifications: Master’s degree in finance, economics, banking, engineering, sciences, or a related discipline, with a strong academic record. Minimum of seven years of professional experience, including at least five in investment banking, private equity, or a comparable financial role. Deep expertise in financial analysis techniques, valuation methodologies, and investment principles. Proficiency in financial modeling, Excel, and other analytical tools.
