Contour Global, a KKR-backed Independent Power Producer (IPP) operating in the United States, Latin America, Europe, and Africa, is seeking an HSE Officer for its Kikuyu, Rwanda location. The company maintains a diversified portfolio of nearly 6 GW across renewable energy, flexible thermal power, and battery storage assets, delivering reliable, dispatchable power solutions to advance a sustainable energy future. Through the decarbonization of its thermal assets and the expansion of large-scale renewable projects, Contour Global is transitioning into a predominantly renewable power platform, with over 2 GW of renewable and battery energy storage projects currently under construction and approximately 15 GW in development. Leveraging in-house capabilities in development, engineering, and operations, the company collaborates with utilities, industrial clients, and digital infrastructure providers to deliver customized power solutions via long-term contracts, corporate PPAs, and powered-land arrangements that accelerate data center deployment. The HSE Officer will be responsible for implementing, monitoring, and promoting the Company’s Health, Safety, Environmental, and Quality (HSEQ) management system to maintain a secure, healthy, and environmentally responsible work environment. The role ensures adherence to regulatory requirements, industry standards, and internal policies while fostering a proactive safety culture throughout power plant operations. Responsibilities are allocated as follows: Health and safety (70%), Environmental Management (15%), and Quality Management (15%). Key responsibilities include ensuring full compliance with HSEQ standards and procedures across all workplaces through ongoing safety awareness initiatives such as inductions, supervision, and toolbox talks for employees, visitors, and contractors. The HSE Officer will develop and execute a monthly HSEQ training and awareness plan for employees, departments, onsite contractors, and stakeholders, while overseeing all work activities to confirm alignment with HSEQ protocols. Additionally, the role involves designing and implementing an integrated management system audit and inspection program, compiling and submitting precise HSEQ data and reports via Contour Global’s HSEQ platform (Velocity EHS), government entities, and other stakeholders (e.g., lenders). The Officer will also be responsible for creating and executing corrective action plans to address identified non-conformities, safety concerns, and hazards, as well as collecting, compiling, and analyzing HSEQ performance metrics in a timely manner.
