Expérience
UNICEF, a global organization dedicated to advancing the rights and well-being of children in over 190 countries and territories, invites applications for a temporary Child Protection Specialist position (NO-3) based in Kigali, Rwanda. This role offers an opportunity to make a meaningful impact by supporting the development, implementation, and evaluation of child protection programs that safeguard children from harm, uphold their rights, and foster a protective environment aligned with the Convention on the Rights of the Child and international frameworks. Reporting to the Child Protection Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in designing, managing, and monitoring programs while providing technical guidance to ensure results-based delivery in line with UNICEF’s Strategic Plans and accountability frameworks. Key responsibilities include leading program development, strengthening partnerships, driving innovation, and building local capacity in areas such as child protection, safeguarding, and the prevention of sexual exploitation and abuse (SEA). Your contributions will support national and global efforts to protect children in development and humanitarian contexts. To qualify, you must hold an advanced university degree—such as a Master’s in International Development, Psychology, Human Rights, or a related social science field—or a Bachelor’s degree with two years of relevant experience. A minimum of five years in child protection, human rights, program management, monitoring and evaluation, advocacy, or related fields is essential. Fluency in English is required, with proficiency in French, Kinyarwanda, or another UN language considered advantageous. Experience working in developing countries, particularly in fragile or humanitarian settings, and familiarity with UN agencies, are highly valued. We seek candidates who embody UNICEF’s core values of Care, Respect, Integrity, Trust, Accountability, and Sustainability (CARITAS), along with competencies in partnership-building, strategic thinking, ethical awareness, and collaboration. UNICEF is committed to diversity and inclusion, actively encouraging applications from underrepresented groups, including individuals with disabilities and those from diverse backgrounds. We offer a comprehensive benefits package, reasonable accommodations throughout the recruitment process, and adhere to strict safeguarding policies. All selected candidates will undergo rigorous background checks. For further details on the role and application process, review the full job description [here]. Apply by August 14, 2026.

- •Never pay any amount of money — for a file, a training, a uniform, or an interview. A real employer never asks the candidate to pay.
- •Never send a photo of your ID card, passport, or banking details before you have physically verified the employer exists.
- •Always meet in a public place, during the day — never an isolated address, a private home, or a location you cannot verify in advance.
- •Tell a relative or friend exactly where you are going, with whom, and at what time — and share your live location if possible.
- •Search the company name online before going: a real business has a trace (website, reviews, other employees, an official address).
- •A salary that is far above the market rate for the position and the city is a red flag — be extra cautious.
