Background Advocate for Community Development and Environmental Protection (ACO DEP) is seeking qualified candidates for an upcoming cross-sectoral initiative aimed at enhancing women’s involvement in environmental peace building, climate action, gender-based and sexual-gender-based violence prevention, human rights advocacy, and environmental justice. A single position is available for a renewable two-year contract. JOB SUMMARY The Deputy Executive Director will collaborate with the Executive Director to deliver strategic leadership, oversee programs, drive organizational development, and ensure the successful execution of ACO DEP’s initiatives. Oversee and manage critical operational tasks, ensuring adherence to established protocols and efficiency in workflows. Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to align objectives, drive project milestones, and maintain high standards of performance. Analyze data, identify trends, and implement strategic improvements to optimize productivity and achieve organizational goals. Address emerging challenges proactively, prioritize tasks effectively, and allocate resources judiciously to meet deadlines and deliver measurable results. Foster a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement across all responsibilities. Provide strategic guidance and operational leadership to the Executive Director, contributing to the development and implementation of organizational plans and initiatives. Responsibilities include directing the execution of programs and key organizational priorities.

  • Facilitate alignment and seamless communication between senior leadership and various department heads to drive cohesive organizational strategies. Monitor program performance, outputs, and organizational targets to ensure alignment with strategic objectives and identify areas for improvement. Contribute to the acquisition of resources, foster relationships with donors, and cultivate strategic partnerships to enhance organizational capacity and impact. Demonstrates ACO DEP’s presence by actively participating in meetings, networking events, forums, and stakeholder engagement sessions.
  • Foster strategic partnerships and cultivate strong collaborations with government entities, development partners, communities, and civil society organizations. Advocate for gender equality, environmental sustainability, human rights, and inclusive program initiatives to foster equitable and responsible practices. Assist in the formulation and implementation of organizational policies while ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements and internal standards. Offer strategic direction and support to both program and technical teams to ensure alignment and successful execution of initiatives. Monitor organizational risks vigilantly and assist in implementing suitable mitigation measures to safeguard company interests. Prepare reports, proposals, budgets, and strategic documents to support organizational decision-making and planning initiatives. Foster a culture of accountability and transparency while ensuring the responsible and efficient utilization of organizational resources. The preferred candidate will possess a proven track record in the specified field, demonstrating exceptional proficiency and a commitment to continuous improvement. They should exhibit strong analytical abilities, effective communication skills, and the capacity to collaborate seamlessly within a team environment. Key qualities include adaptability to evolving challenges, a results-driven mindset, and meticulous attention to detail. Additionally, the ideal applicant must hold relevant certifications or qualifications where applicable and meet all specified job prerequisites. Responsibilities will encompass a diverse range of tasks, requiring both independence and the ability to thrive under pressure while maintaining high professional standards. A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Development Studies, Social Sciences, Environmental Studies, Public Administration, Management, or a related discipline is required. Extensive background in managing NGOs and leading organizational initiatives is essential. Demonstrates extensive expertise in software development programming and effective stakeholder engagement practices. Exceptional leadership, communication, and coordination capabilities, along with a strong aptitude for strategic planning, are essential. Proficiency in engaging with donors and development partners is considered advantageous.
