About the role: Our client is in search of an experienced Drilling Foreman to oversee and coordinate all drilling operations at the mine site. The role requires ensuring that drilling activities are executed safely, efficiently, and in strict compliance with production objectives, geological specifications, company protocols, and relevant mining regulations. Candidates must possess a minimum of 10 to 15 years of hands-on drilling experience, with a proven track record in leading drilling crews and managing or operating drilling equipment within open-pit or mining settings. To ensure adherence to company safety protocols, mining regulations, and environmental mandates, strict enforcement of all applicable standards is required. Deliver engaging toolbox talks, conduct pre-shift meetings, and facilitate safety briefings to ensure all team members are informed and aligned with current safety protocols and procedures. Proactively assess and mitigate operational hazards while establishing and enforcing effective control measures to maintain a safe working environment. Conduct thorough examinations of incidents, near misses, equipment damage, and unsafe practices as deemed necessary. Provide guidance, instruction, and mentorship to drill operators and junior staff members to enhance their skills and performance. Evaluate employee performance and verify adherence to established company policies and procedures. Ensure adherence to high housekeeping and environmental standards in drilling areas. Maintain the structural integrity of highballs, benches, underground workings, utilities, and other mine infrastructure during all drilling operations. Contribute to ongoing enhancement projects focused on boosting drilling efficiency, minimizing operational expenses, and elevating drill-hole precision. Minimum Requirements: Earned qualification in a technical discipline such as Drilling, Mining, Mechanical Engineering, or an equivalent field. With a strong preference for candidates holding 10 to 15 years of hands-on drilling expertise—ideally within the mining sector—the ideal applicant will have a proven track record of operational excellence and technical proficiency in drilling practices. Accomplished professionals with a strong track record in supervisory capacities, specifically as a Drilling Foreman, Senior Drill Operator, or equivalent leadership role, are encouraged to apply. Experienced in overseeing drilling crews and drill operators. Professional experience in an open-pit mining setting is required. Demonstrates comprehensive expertise in drilling operations, encompassing proficiency in drilling patterns, hole depths, angles, diameters, and precise positioning. Proficient understanding of drilling machinery, associated tooling, drill rods, drill bits, lubricants, and consumables. Capable of performing or managing pre-start inspections to detect equipment defects. Strong understanding of mine safety standards, mining regulations, environmental requirements, and hazard controls. Leadership in delivering toolbox talks, pre-shift meetings, and safety briefings is required. Maintain precise documentation of drilling activities, production outputs, shift details, and equipment utilization metrics. Experienced in providing effective leadership, capable of training, coaching, and mentoring drill operators and junior personnel to enhance their performance and professional development. Proficient interpersonal and collaborative abilities, with a focus on effective interactions and coordination among Mining, Blasting, Maintenance, and Survey teams. A strong capability to track production targets, assess drill productivity levels, evaluate equipment utilization, and analyze downtime patterns is essential. Exceptional capacity for analytical thinking and systematic troubleshooting. Demonstrates strong performance while maintaining composure during high-pressure situations and consistently meets predetermined production goals.
