MAINTENANCE AND RELIABILITY PLANNERS (2 POSITIONS) This role operates under the direct supervision of the [Job Title], ensuring alignment with departmental objectives and strategic goals. Maintenance Superintendent. The ideal candidate will assume responsibility for the following duties and tasks. Responsibilities Create comprehensive maintenance plans and schedules on a weekly, monthly, and annual basis. Develop comprehensive job plans tailored for scheduled maintenance activities, ensuring all necessary preparations are thoroughly outlined. Develop and execute preventive, predictive, corrective, and statutory maintenance plans to ensure optimal operational efficiency and regulatory compliance. To ensure seamless production operations, synchronize maintenance tasks with manufacturing timelines, thereby reducing potential disruptions to output. Devises comprehensive maintenance shutdown and major overhaul schedules with meticulous attention to detail. Your responsibilities include accurately scoping, prioritizing, and scheduling maintenance work orders to ensure efficient operations. Before commencing work, ascertain the necessary labor, tools, equipment, materials, and specialized contractors required. Ensure the maintenance backlog remains practical while prioritizing and addressing high-priority tasks promptly. Coordinate and oversee scheduled maintenance tasks for mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and mobile equipment teams to ensure operational efficiency and reliability. Track adherence to established maintenance schedules to ensure timely completion of scheduled tasks. Design and oversee the implementation of reliability enhancement initiatives specifically for essential mining machinery. Conduct a thorough examination of historical equipment failure data to pinpoint persistent failure patterns and trends. Perform in-depth Root Cause Analysis (RCA) to systematically address both significant and recurring equipment failures. Suggest and implement measures aimed at addressing and preventing the recurrence of persistent issues. Implement Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM) methodologies as appropriate to enhance operational dependability. Evaluate equipment performance to pinpoint potential enhancements in reliability and efficiency. Track Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF), Mean Time To Repair (MTTR), equipment availability, and reliability trends. Determine essential machinery and develop suitable maintenance approaches. Evaluate maintenance approaches by analyzing equipment operational conditions and historical failure data. Ensure full adherence to the company’s Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) policies, established procedures, and relevant mining safety regulations and standards. Proactively coordinate maintenance activities while implementing robust risk management protocols to safeguard operational integrity. Conduct risk assessments and ensure compliance with permit requirements as part of maintenance planning, incorporating Job Safety Analysis (JSA) methodologies. Ensure that isolation and Lock-Out Tag-Out (LOT) protocols are incorporated into job planning processes to maintain safety compliance. Professionally manage and oversee the planning and control processes for contractors to ensure adherence to established protocols. Identify and promptly document any hazards, incidents, near misses, or unsafe conditions. Enhance the implementation of safe maintenance protocols throughout all operational activities to ensure compliance and minimize risks. Maintain adherence to all relevant mining and occupational health and safety regulations as mandated by Zambian law. Qualification & Experience Obtained a Grade 12 Certificate along with pertinent technical qualifications. A Bachelor’s or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Industrial Engineering, Mining Engineering, or a comparable discipline is required. Professional Rewriting: Holding a relevant certification in maintenance planning or reliability would be considered an additional asset. Minimum qualifications include three to five years of hands-on experience in maintenance planning, reliability engineering, or maintenance supervision roles. Proficiency in the mining sector is highly desirable. Individuals must possess hands-on experience with large-scale mobile mining machinery, stationary processing facilities, electrical systems, or other types of heavy industrial equipment. Demonstrated proficiency in implementing both preventive and predictive maintenance strategies is required. Accomplished professionals with a proven track record in shutdown and major maintenance planning are encouraged to apply.
