Emel Hospitals Limited, a multi-specialist hospital located at 21 Road, Z Close in Festac Town, Amuwo Odofin Local Government, Lagos, Nigeria, is recruiting to fill the position of Front Desk Officer.
Emel Hospital is a purpose-built 44-bed hospital situated on a piece of land specially approved for its purpose by the Federal Housing Authority. Established in 1988 by Dr. Olufemi Mobolaji-Lawal, a consultant paediatrician, the hospital has grown to become a trusted healthcare provider in the region. Dr. Mobolaji-Lawal trained as a doctor at the University College Hospital, Ibadan, and as a paediatrician in the United Kingdom. Prior to setting up Emel Hospital, he worked for some time as a consultant paediatrician at Ikeja General Hospital (now Lagos State University Teaching Hospital), Lagos. He serves as the board chairman, and his wife, Dr. (Mrs) Margaret Mobolaji-Lawal, is a non-executive director.

Key Responsibilities
Patient Reception & Registration: Welcome patients, visitors, and clients politely and professionally. Register new patients and update existing patient records accurately. Verify patient information and documentation. Direct patients to the appropriate departments or units.
Appointment Management: Schedule, confirm, and reschedule patient appointments. Manage daily appointment logs and clinic schedules. Inform patients of delays, cancellations, or changes when necessary.
Communication & Customer Service: Answer phone calls, emails, and walk-in inquiries promptly. Provide accurate information about hospital services, visiting hours, and procedures. Handle patient complaints calmly and escalate issues when necessary. Maintain professional communication with patients, staff, and management. Maintain proper filing and documentation of patient records.
Billing & Payment Support: Assist patients with billing inquiries and payment directions. Issue receipts or direct patients to the appropriate payment points. Coordinate with accounts or HMO desk where necessary.
Confidentiality & Compliance: Maintain confidentiality of patient information at all times. Adhere to hospital policies, procedures, and ethical standards. Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
Qualifications & Requirements
Minimum of HND/Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Mass Communication, or related field. Previous experience in customer service or hospital reception is an advantage. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and hospital management software. Good telephone etiquette and interpersonal skills.
